281 | Is Christmas wrong for Christians? | Gal 5:21 | Cyclist | 69578
FirstLadyK, All praise and glory and honor to God our Father who sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ! Blessed be the Lamb of God who is Jesus Christ forever! WELCOME to this forum! If it be wrong to celebrate Jesus Christ our Savior (His birth and ressurection), then I am wrong every day! According to the BIBLE the celebration of the Savior is encouraged. However, I would point out to you that the way one celebrates should be in the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. See the scriptures below. Especially 5:21 with regard to drunkeness. Bless you! Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in mouth! Gal 5:19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, Gal 5:20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, Gal 5:21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gal 5:23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. |

283 | Can belief be excluded from exegesis | Ephesians | Cyclist | 62409
Brother John, It is good to give thanks to our God! Thank you Father for all of the wonderful things that you do! Thank you Father for ginving Your only begotten Son who gave His life for our sins! To be honest with you, I had to look up the defenition of "exegesis". That will tell you how much of an expert I am on theology. My answer is yes dear brother, and, as far as an explanation, I will let the scripture speak for itself. Eph 4:1 Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, Eph 4:2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, Eph 4:3 being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Eph 4:4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism, Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. Eph 4:7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ's gift. Eph 4:8 Therefore it says, "WHEN HE ASCENDED ON HIGH, HE LED CAPTIVE A HOST OF CAPTIVES, AND HE GAVE GIFTS TO MEN." Eph 4:9 (Now this expression, "He ascended," what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? Eph 4:10 He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.) Eph 4:11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, Eph 4:12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; Eph 4:13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Eph 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; Eph 4:15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, Eph 4:16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. Always your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

284 | Can belief be excluded from exegesis | Ephesians | Cyclist | 62432
Dear, dear Brother in Christ, On the mountain top, I will praise Him! in the valley, I will praise Him! If I am taken down to the ocsean floor or the center of the earth, He will hear my praise! Blessed be the Lord our God! I must apologize if I misunderstood and did not address your original question. Obviously I do not yet understand theology and the meaning of exegesis and disputing(s) over interpretation of the Word of the Lord our God. In fact, there are questions that are asked on the forum and notes posted that I probably should not have responded to, and have at times refrained myself from responding to. So please, by all means my brother, re-post your question and may the blame for a double post be laid to my charge. Not that I am nor would I be offended, I am just sorry that I did not understand your question. Searcher submitted an answer also. Did you read it? Maybe that better addressed your question. Bless you brother, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

285 | Replies to a vulgar comment. | Eph 5:4 | Cyclist | 67129
Dear TomBrooklyn, All praise and glory and honor be to God the Father who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that there is therein, and, to His Son Jesus Christ who died for our sins, who's name is named above every name in heaven and in earth! Welcome to this forum! Below are scripture references. I do not know what kind of forum the comment appeared on, but, it certainly has no place here on this one! If you need to ask about this sort of thing again on this forum, please write something like "Some made a comment on another forum that is not proper, using words that really shouldn't be said or written." Thank you in advance! That being said (written), this forum is a GREAT place to study and learn more about God's word. Eph 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; Eph 5:2 and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Eph 5:3 But immorality or any impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints; Eph 5:4 and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. Eph 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Blessings in Jesus Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

286 | Is reverence feasible? Always? | Eph 5:33 | Cyclist | 66114
Rabbi Mark, With my hands lifted up! With my mouth filled with praise! With a heart of thanksgiving! I will bless the Lord my God! Welcome to the forum! This is a great place to study the word of the Lord our God! I haven't been very active on the forum lately because I have been busy at my job. I do check in from time to time and I noticed your post. I read some of this thread and was a little disturbed by what was written to a very dear sister, Mommapbs, and to a very dear brother, Emmaus. Might I suggest that you do some research on these two members of the forum. It is simple. Just "click" on their names on this thread and you can read all of their postings. There is one particular thing that you wrote about in response to Mommapbs that I would like to respond to. You wrote "These two quotes are the perfect example of why a woman should learn in silence and not be suffered to teach. You have proven in your own words that women easily fall prey for spiritual counterfeits." How would this portion of scripture relate to that? or Does it? Gal 3:26 For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. Gal 3:27 For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free man, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. In Christ our Lord, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

287 | Is reverence feasible? Always? | Eph 5:33 | Cyclist | 66296
Rabbi Mark, I will praise the Lord my God because He is worthy of all praise! I will praise the Lord my God because He is loving and kind and merciful! I will praise the Lord my God who created the heavens and the earth and the seas and all that therin is because He has provided salvation for me through His only begotten Son Jesus Christ! Praise the name of the Lord! Thank you for taking time to respond to my post. I still have not had nor taken the time to read every post on this. As I wrote before, my job is taking 10 hours of my day and, in addition to that, I am providing care for a family member in the evenings. If I had it my way I would be on the forum at least 8 hours per day. I am some what of a juvenile to this forum and in the word of the Lord my God compared to others members, who I consider to be my elders in Christ. That being said, I will exit this thread because my dear elder Hank has labeled it as divisive and I trust his wisdom in the Lord. I want no part of a divisive thread other than to address those that attack others. As for Mommapbs, I wrote to you before that she is a dear sister in the Lord. I am thankful for her. Bless you Mommapbs! In Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

288 | Why seek healing for this flesh? | Phil 1:2 | Cyclist | 75305
Dear Forum Family, Blessed be the name of the Lord our God and His Son Jesus Christ forever more! Praise the Lord for His love and mercy and grace! Praise the Lord for He is good to His children! Praise the Lord for His patience with His children! Let everything that has breath praise the name of the Lord! Praise Him from the mountain tops! Praise Him from the valleys! praise Him! It's been quite a while since I've visited. Without going into any long details, I have been very busy! I have a question for those of you who are my elders and my brothers and my sisters on this forum (I pray that those of you whom I consider my elders or Brothers or Sisters know who you are.) Here it is. Even though this body I have been given is in great shape (I spend at least ten hours per week excercising it and the doctor tells me "I wish all of my patients were in as good of shape as your are, except for....."), there exists a cuouple of malfunctions. Sparing you all of the details, I was taken from my office to the emergency room on Wednesday morning. Woops! Got so caught up in all of that, I almost almost strayed away from posting my question! WHY SEEK HEALING FOR THIS BODY? Please, please don't get me wrong. I get annual physicals and that on my own, it is not required for my permenant illnesses. And, I do always go to my physician when having problems. When I read the holy word of the Lord my God I so desire to be with Him in His kingdom! Again, don't misunderstand me please, I haven't gone off my rocker, not yet anyway. Why seek healing for this flesh that will not inherit the kingdom of God? I know that the Lord our God has blessed us with some very good doctors, but, I'm having difficulty understanding the purpose. Honestly, it seems sometimes that the closer I am to death, the happier I am because I will be with the Lord forever. Again, I'm NOT CRAZY! Never the less, If here (on earth) is where His desire is for me, then here I am happy to be. Blessed be the Lord forever! I posted a couple of scriptures below. Please I pray you my friends, help me understand through the word of the Lord our God. I am thankful for each one of you! Bless you as you prayerfully consider your answer(s) to me. Your input is very important to me on this issue. Col 3:1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Phil 1:23 But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; I always pray for you my friends. Always your brother in Christ Jesus our Lord, David (Cyclist) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Bless you graceful! David I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

291 | once saved, always saved? | Col 1:13 | Cyclist | 75889
Joe, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will sing a song of praise in my heart and in my mind to Lord my God the day long! I will sing of His mercy! I will sing of His grace! I will of His loving kindness! Praise be to the Lord our God! Until now I have been able to keep myself from posting on this subjuct because I have seen it come up at least six times in my first year as an active member. Just wanted to add a few scriptures and a little opinion. This is not directed at you or anyone else, just intended to add to the discussion. Rom 11:16 If the first piece of dough is holy, the lump is also; and if the root is holy, the branches are too. Rom 11:17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree, Rom 11:18 do not be arrogant toward the branches; but if you are arrogant, remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you. Rom 11:19 You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in." Rom 11:20 Quite right, they were broken off for their unbelief, but you stand by your faith. Do not be conceited, but fear; Rom 11:21 for if God did not spare the natural branches, He will not spare you, either. Rom 11:22 Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God's kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. Rom 11:23 And they also, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. Rom 11:24 For if you were cut off from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these who are the natural branches be grafted into their own olive tree? This scripture tells me that we can be cut off, but, as the formerly children of promise when we accepted Christ, He is able to graft us back in again. 2 Chr 7:14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Here is one passage I really like because when we do fail, many, including satan (I refuse to capitalize the first letter of his name, sorry Ray), develope a "hog" nature (If a one hog has a blemish or an illness all the others nip at it and bite at it to torment it to death.), there are those, I know from experience that backbite the one who failed instead of loving them back into the family of God. Ps 3:1 O LORD, how my adversaries have increased! Many are rising up against me. Ps 3:2 Many are saying of my soul, "There is no deliverance for him in God." Selah. Ps 3:3 But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. Ps 3:4 I was crying to the LORD with my voice, And He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah. Sorry Joe, I believe I got a little carried away and that is why I have refrain from posting on this until now. Always your brother in Christ Jesus our Lord, Cyclist (David) I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

Joe, Blessed be the spotless lamb of God who is Christ Jesus our Savior and Lord who thought not of His own life but gave His life for our sins; to whom all power has been given in heaven and earth! Praise be to Jesus! Thanks for the reply Joe. I just couldn't resist putting in my 2 cents. I will exit the discussion now though. It's not a "hit and run", honest! SUNSTAR (the one who started this thread), If you are still out there. Blessings to you in the name of Jesus Christ! 293 | Physical sports contests? | Col 3:17 | Cyclist | 61851
Dear Forum elders, Good morning! First of all, I did an extensive search in the forum and found only one post in answer to a simmilar question, I've added that response to this posted question. As you probably know by my user name "Cyclist", and if you have read my profile, I exercise this body that God has given me to use on earth quite a bit. In fact, I exercise 1 1/2 to 2 hours per day, 5 to 6 days per week. I am also a certified personal fitness trainer. However, I do not let, and will not let, exercise interfere with my spiritual life, duties, and responsibilities (God and family first, Career second, exercise and me last). Here is the post I found when I did a search: charis 3/1/01 7:34PM "Amigo, Exercise is fine. Inflating every seperate muscle on your body for the purpose of showng your oiled skin to others or looking at your self in the mirror is indeed vain (empty). Becoming a brain-dead couch potato is not very good either. Fitness of mind and body makes sense. Extremes on either side are foolish. Even this forum is healthy if it is thought-provoking and faith-lifting. An 'over-pumped' mind is also foolish." Now to my question, finally! I consider body building a sport and there is a contest coming up that I have participated in before, but, would I possibly be offending my fellow Christians, or, not be a proper whitness to others? Rom 14:21 It is good not to eat meat or to drink wine, or to do anything by which your brother stumbles. I know of others, very few, that are body builders that claim to be Christian. However, I have not been able to share with them to know if the true Spirit of Jesus is in them. Here are scriptures that I found that may relate to physical exercise but I would like to know if there are more, and, I do value your opinion(s) as Christian elders because since I have been part of this forum your postings have really helped me to grow, by leaps and bounds! NASB 1 Cor 9:25 Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. NASB 1 Tim 4:8 for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. KJV 1 Tim 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. Thank you! Always your brother in Christ, Cyclist P.S. I spared you of opening my posted question with praise to my God and yours. Not that I will EVER apologize for praising and glorifying our Heavenly Father, God forbid! It has been brought to my attention that a forum may not be the place for that. I will, however, end my post the same way I always do, and, if you will still allow me to, begin my posts with praise. I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

inmyheart, I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! Where ever I am I'll praise you my God! When ever I can I will praise you my Savior! Thank you for your post my friend! I'm sorry for the late response. After I responded to your post I shut out the lights because I had to rise early this morning. Your post was much needed. I checked my e-mail when I got up this morning, and your post was a great way to start my day! Lately things have been this way for me, not that I am to be compared with Paul: 2 Cor 7:5 For even when we came into Macedonia our flesh had no rest, but we were afflicted on every side: conflicts without, fears within. Thank you again my friend! Always your brother in Christ Jesus, our Savior and Lord, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |

300 | john gill, "church"? | Hebrews | Cyclist | 48691
john gill, Cyclist here! Let me start this question by explaining to you that I start and end each post with praise to our Heavenly Father. Second, I absolutley, positively do not ask any questions with the purpose of challanging any one, I simply am eager to learn. So here goes. I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever! I will praise my God from the time I get up in the morning until the time I fall asleep at night! Blessed be the name of the Lord! I didn't see the word/phrase "church" used in the old testament one time. Did they have a different word/phrase for it? or, Did they not join together weekly to worship? Did the "church" gets it's name in the new testament? I know that Jesus talked about His church of which all of us who believe in Him and follow His commandments are a part of. Are there any scriptures that you know of, old or new testament, that directs/commands us to go to a building that is called a church? Is the answer I seek to the last question present in the scripture verses below? Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; Heb 10:24 and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. As always I appreciate input from anyone on the forum. Your brother in Christ, Cyclist I will bless the Lord at all times! His praise shall continually be in my mouth! |
