603 | Did Adam die from eating forbidden fruit | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18114

It is interesting to note in Matt. 3:11,12, that John the Baptist said I use water (just a ritual) but, in speaking of Jesus, He will baptize with the Holy Spirit and with fire (the real thing). It will be one or the other. A person will receive the unifying baptism of God's Spirit, for eternal bliss, or they will receive his baptism of fire, for eternal punishment. Verse 12 confirms the fact of whom the baptisms are for, the Holy Spirit for believers i.e. the wheat: or the baptism of fire for the unbelievers i.e. the chaff. There are two types of baptism, wet ones and dry ones. The wet ones are just ritual, but the dry ones are real! This is the message that John was trying to put across. Only a true believer can practice the ritual and cause it to mean anything. That is why in Matt. 3:8 that John said bring forth fruits meet for repentance. (because if you don't it won't mean anything) Repentance and faith are two sides of the same coin. CDBJ |

Do you think that is the reason why I Cor.2:14 say that the natural man can't receive things from the Spirit of God, because the natural man has no living spirit? CDBJ
606 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18128
If the spirit of man is dead at the point of physical birth, and his body and soul are alive, how can the soul be part of the spirit, when God's word clearly divides the three? CDBJ |

607 | Body/soul/spirit? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18158
The spirit is what died when Adam ate of the forbidden fruit. It is only by means of the spirit that a person can have fellowship with God. To simplify it, the human spirit is like a receiver to absorb and understand God's signals or message to us, and visa versa. Just like a television set receives the signals that are constantly going through your house, it makes the signals real to you with a picture and sound. If you would try to tell a person who knows nothing about television or has never seen television or heard a radio, that there are signal passing through your house and you tell them how much you are enjoying them, they would think it was foolishness and that you must have a screw loose or something. Thus we have I Cor. 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but (conjunction of contrast) unto us which are saved it (the cross where Jesus paid the price required) is the power of God. It is interesting to note, that the word for death, in the Greek language is THANATOS, it actually means separation. It does not mean that consciousness stops. The soul will live on forever, once it is born, it is the real you. Either your soul will live with God, in eternal bless because you have received His gift of eternal life, that His Son Jesus paid for; or it will live in a place of eternal torment for rejecting God's free gift. At any rate the only thing that can send a person to the lake of fire, is the sin of rejecting Jesus Christ as their savior. Like the song says, Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe. CDBJ |

Charis, I don't understand the part of your comment (I well understand that all things were created by God the Father,) Where does that leave us with Col. 1:13-20 where all things were created by the Son not the Father? CDBJ

Try I John 5:10-13 I have eternal life right here and now and I know it, because God Himself has given me the down payment of His Spirit. Only the ones that have received this from God know it. This was not revealed to me by any man. If this is not a reality to some, I would suggests that they seek God with their whole heart, in His Word to find it out, because if they don't they will be eternally lost. All this came about by putting all my faith and trust in Jesus Christ and what He did for me on the cross. That was the purpose of the book of John, John 20:31 But these things have been written so that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name. If this wasn't satisfactory to God, Jesus would still be in the grave, but He is not, He is alive and He is seated at the right hand of God the Father and He is the only one that rose from the dead, and is alive for evermore; so this justifies my faith in Him!!! Casiv, I neglected to mention in my last thread, the old mind isn't working as well as it use too, that there is the logic view point to look at. Just taking John 3:16 in to account, if God wasn't going to be satisfied with Jesus Christ, why would He have sent Him in the first place? CDBJ

613 | FATHER fixation? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 18790
I don't know where you got the idea that I was insulting you by name-calling or what ever. All that I ask was the nature of the name that you are using on the forum, if it was a sort form of CHEZEV, which is the Old Testament Hebrew word for (vision). I am sorry you mistook this for something else. From all that you were telling us about the Old Testament I thought maybe you were a Hebrew buff, my mistake! CDBJ

Dear PGS, it sounds like you have a burden for the lost. When I first became a believer, about 35 years ago, I would get on my knees before the Lord for people's salvation. I would do everything but hit them over the head with the Bible because I wanted them to find Jesus like I did. Boy I tell you, I knew that I found the answer to eternal life and I wanted everyone to have it. It was like talking to a brick wall. The burden was so heavy on me that I almost collapsed emotionally. Then it was pointed out to me in Matt. 16: 18 That people can't reveal Jesus to anyone, this is the work of the Father, He only puts believers into His family by revealing who Jesus is. Here I was trying to do God's work and all that I was able to do was to muddy up the water. The best advice that I can give is to study, study, study, God's word so that you may be able to answer everyone who ask you for a reason of the hope that is in you and do it with LOVE. Let Christ produce through you what He wants to do. Talk the talk and walk the walk; let Christ LOVE shine. Someone once said, (what you do, speaks so loud that I can't hear what you are saying.) We are ambassadors for Christ, people will watch you like a hawk, so stay close and try not to do anything that will give the devil a chance to neutralize you in your walk. I sure hope this helps; stay in His Word and try to love them into the kingdom, and He will lead. CDBJ |

I can share a poem with you that I wrote. I'm not sure how the format will look on the forum. It is called a SECOND CHANCE. Use it any way you can to reach the lost. A SECOND CHANCE Would you like a second chance, to start your life again? Would you live a different way; could you turn to God from sin? Could you trust the Lord to guide, in this newfound hopeful quest? He has the way all planned for you and He offers you His best! You'd still be old in terms of years, with the knowledge you've Acquired. You could live in perfect freedom though, with the debt of sins retired. It's not too late to begin this life; today is the perfect day. So harden not your heart my friend, but consider what I say. The Bible is God's guide for you; it's been a mystery in your past. But He'll reveal the truth in it, and your love for it will last. There's a simple way to commence this life; the key is to believe. The object is God's unique Son; it's Him you must receive! God has said the wage of sin, is separation from his sight. So he sent his Son to pay this price, and be your guiding light. Jesus is the Son of God who came to set you free. He's the Way the Truth the Life who died on Calvary! Then He arose up from the grave to prove that He's the one. This justifies our faith in Him as God's precious Son. Yes, Jesus is the one to trust; He'll satisfy your needs. Religious works are null and void, with all their useless deeds. Have faith in Christ and what He did; this pleases God the most. There's joy in heaven with this resolve, by all angelic hosts. God has promised eternal life, to those who trust His son. It's a gift by grace and not of works, and it's free to everyone. God has said you have a choice to start your life anew. But the future of your eternal state is strictly up to you. Call on the Lord to save your soul, and start this new relation. According to God's word in fact, you'll be a new creation. By Charles D. Bickett, Jr. |

617 | Only seal and horse in same verse Rev6:5 | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 19605
EdB, I think you have the four horsemen down to a tee, because that is the same description the Jesus point out will take place in Matt. 24. There is a book out that is one of the best that I have ever read on the subject of eschatology; it is called the Sign by Robert Van Kampen. It is a real eye opener that ties all of the verses on eschatology together, from the Old and New Testament. CDBJ |

I agree with you about who the two witnesses are but where do you find that Moses didn't die a natural death?
619 | Who were the witnesses? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 20908
Yes your right, Michael disputed over the body of Moses, which means that Moses soul wasn't in it any longer. Death had seperated his soul from his body,(THANATOS)and Satan wanted it for some evil action. Why, we are not told, but Moses wasn't in it any longer to defend it as he had been in the past.
