Debbie you right when you say no one can give a date, because it is not known exactly when Christ will return. But there are signs to distingush certain things that have to happen before He can return, thus eliminating a term that is called imminency. I haven't talked to a handfull of Christians that know, that on the very day that Christ rescues the believers from the earth, that God will begin to pour out His wrath on those that are left behind. There is even a book out that goes by that title, so that unbelievers if they read it, might think they have a second chance when all the believers seem to vanish away. They will have as much chance as those that were left after the ark was shut. God's wrath came that very same day in the form of rain. God's wrath came the very day that Lot left Sodom. He almost got his shirt tail burnt on the way out, but God delivered him just before the fire came down. These will be tempting times that will try the faith of many believers. Look at what II Pet.2:9 has to say. Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment for the day of judgement, There are many who think that the rapture will be a secret thing. The most glorius event in history will be taking place that shows the World who Christ is, and they say it will be a secret event, I don't think so!! Rev.1:7 every eye will see Him. I am sorry if that is how I seem to be coming across. I certainly don't want to be judge mental, I have enough problems with out being disciplined for that. There are so many believers that don't know what is going to happen in the future in regard to the last days. Peter talks about it in I Pet.1:7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: The message that is going out all over the World today is that the elect won't have to go through all of this, and it just isn't so. I have a very heavy burden for other believers to find the truth about the last days. It might not be for many years to come, I don't know, but the Lord has put the burden on my heart. I guess I kind of know how Jeremiah must have felt for the Jews of his day. The warnings are many, but people just don't want to hear about it. It will be so bad, that believers will think that they missed the rapture and they will be turning to false Christ. After all they will say we are not suppose to be going through all of this, maybe our belief about Christ was wrong! There doesn't seem to be many like Paul found in Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Oh well, CDBJ |

Hi Tim, Is it true that you understand the prewrath position? CDBJ
585 | Prewrath position? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 14871
Tim—I think we must have two prewrath concepts, or for that mater what constitutes God’s wrath and Satan’s wrath. I think that when antichrist establishes a covenant with Israel, that Daniel’s 70th week will start. The believers at that time will have 42 mo. to prepare for what is coming. At the mid point of the 70th week the antichrist will reveal who he really is and demand the worship of the World, i.e. the abomination of desolation. The Jew’s won’t worship antichrist and neither will the elect. This will start the great tribulation that is mentioned in Matt.24:21. The verse in Rev. 12:12, Shows it from the devil’s view point, and the short time, spoken of, is the last 3 1/2 years or 42 mo. The great tribulation and the time of Jacob’s trouble are running concurrent. The Lord will cut short the tribulation of the believers, with the rapture of his elect; this will happen some where in the last half of the 70th week. Daniel’s 70th week keeps going on though or it wouldn’t be a full 70 weeks. The verse in II Thess. 2:8 where the Lord will destroy the Wicked one with the brightness of His coming; the word for destroy, is KATARGEO, a better rendition would be to make useless, or of no effect: The reason being that the object of the Wicked one has just been removed, i.e. the rapture. This will be the end of what is called the times of the gentiles, when the rapture takes place. The period that Paul speaks of in Rom. 25:26-27 For I do not want you to be uninformed of this mystery so that you will not be wise in your own estimation that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in; and so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “The Deliverer will come out from Zion, He will remove ungodliness from Jacob.” “This is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” The answer to your question is a definite YES! 587 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 14926
I don't see it that way. The wrath that is taking place during the lasts 42 months, is not from God but from the Wicked one. The affliction that those believers will go through is going to be dealt with along with the affliction of those in II Thess. 1:6-10 Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. The only ones to escape, are the ones that are sealed in Rev.7:1-9 Just before the rapture. Did you notice the timing of the rapture in II Thess. 1;10 (WHEN) CDBJ |

588 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 14959
Rev.12:12 "For this reason, rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them. Woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time." This is his last fling. The second coming of Christ is not a verb but a noun, it is the Greek word, PAROUSIA. It is an event just like His first coming which took aprox. 33 years. His second parousia starts with the rapture of the church and last thru the final battle of Armageddon. The wrath of God by definition is against the wicked, when “The lord alone will be exalted” Isa.2:27 The wrath of Satan, Antichrist, “exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he take his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God” II Thess. 2:4 Scripture teaches that Antichrist persecution will be aginst the elect of God (Matt.24:21-22), against His saints (Rev. 13:7) against those “who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus”(Rev. 12:17)! Look at (Zeph. 1:17b-18) Believers will never be on the receiving end of God's wrath. CDBJ |

Nolan-- Sorry about Isa.2:27, it must have been a senior moment where I meant to hit the #1 key but hit the 2 instead. It should have been Isa.2:17 where the Lord only will be exalted in that day. As for the believers not going through the wrath of God, Check out I Thess. 1:10. I think I should have been in bed when I was up trying to communicate on the pc; the old noggin doesn't work too well when it's tired. When it comes to Eschatology, if believers have to be put in some kind of a pigeon hole, pretrib., midtrib., posttrib. They are overlooking a position, and that is prewrath. We all know that, whatever people stand on, in regard to the last days, that they get it from Scripture. They can't all be right, or can they? We know that God's Word is infallible; yet we appear to see contradictions. Jim says that 1/3 is right, Bill says it's 1/8, so who is right? They are both right, but they don't know how to tie it together until the see the common denominator, which is 24. The prewrath position is that common denominator. I've always been interested as to what will happen in the future ever since I trusted in Jesus about 35 years ago. I use to spend hours pouring over books on Eschatology, but there were always loose ends that didn't fit just right. Whenever I went into the local Christian bookstore I would always look in the prophecy section to see if there was anything that I hadn't read yet. I came across a book called The Rapture Question Answeered plain and simple by Robert VanKampen. On the same shelf was a book called the Pre-wrath Rapture of the Church By Marvin Rosenthal. I hadn't read either one of these, so I bought them both. In reading the first book, my eyes were opened to truth that I had never seen before. This guy found the common denominator, and I didn't want the book to end. Upon reading the second book, I was dumbfounded; He was in perfect agreement with the first book. I learned that VanKampen had a book that went into minute details, called The Sign. Well needless to say I had to get a copy of that and read it. It has over 500 pages with a full color fold out of illustrations. The in-depth study on the book of Revelation is very clear, which in my mind was hard to do. By the time I had finished the book I was no longer pretribulationial, but prewrath. Short of me writing you a 500 page note, prewrath would be hard for me to explain in its entirety. CDBJ |

591 | How can Christ return be imminent? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 15134
The 3 major positions only use bits and peaces to try and prove thier point. In the prewrath format, all of the verses of Scripture, that pertain to end time events, are in perfect harmony and there are no contradictions, from the book of Genesis through Revelation; seeing that, was enough to convince me. If all the peaces fit around a peace of puzzle and the color is right, you must have the right peace. I have several friends that have read the book, who believed very firmly in the pretribulation concept, that have become prewrath, in there eschatology. It is hard to dispute something when it all adds up. The so-called imminency of the Christ return is relatively new, as far as church history goes: The prewrath concept was actually taught by Paul. 593 | is the NIV a good bible to read? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 16053
My church uses the NIV, I don't like it though. I like to study in the NAS, yet about everything that I have comitted to memory is out of the KJV. I actually use a lot of dif. translations including an Interlinear Greek - English New Testament. When it comes to word studies W.E. Vine has a book that is an expository of new Testament words, that's hard to beat for starters. Just remember that the foot notes in any Bible help, but they are not inspired. The best why to understand what Scripture is saying, is by checking it out with other scripture on the same subject. I hope this may help. CDBJ
594 | fallen angels called Nephlims and unicor | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 16056
The word Nephilim is found in Gen. 6:4, of the NAS, the KJV uses the word giants. It is speculated that a lot of Greek mythology stems from this era. I hope this helps, CDBJ
595 | if you trully know God.. | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 16232
Peches, There are some verses in I John that I would like you to read, and as you do keep in mind the tense that it is speaking in, like past, present, and future. You have mentioned that you hope to make your peace with God through Christ some day. Look at what God is telling you in these verses. There are promises in these verses that you can claim personally for your own. It's not because any of us on the forum say it, but because God promises it in His Word, through John. That is what the Gospel stands for (THE GOOD NEWS). The good news is that you can know right here and now that you have Eternal Life. Jesus paid for your admission ticket with His life. It's a gift to you from God. You can't make peace with God, Jesus did that when He died for you. Ask God to show it to you though, because a person can't make you understand it. I.e. flesh and blood can't reveal it to you, but only God the Father. I John 5:10-13 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. I hope you understand this, CDBJ |

596 | Where on the ladder of experience? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 16884
Kin, that is a very interesting point that you made. May I ask you a question? Have you reached that point yet in your spiritual life that if, let's say, you were to die today, that you know for sure that you would go to heaven? What are your fellings on this? CDBJ
597 | Where on the ladder of experience? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 16961
Kin, have you read the book Saved Without A Doubt by John MacArthur, Jr.? It is very good and I would recommend it for all believers. CDBJ
598 | Where on the ladder of experience? | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 17030
I am very fortunate in this respect because I don't have to worry about heaven any more. You see God promised me that if I would just trust in His Son Jesus Christ, and what He did for me on the cross for my salvation, that He would give me eternal life with Him in heaven as a gift. But He informed me that it must be an undivided trust in His Son, i.e. that I not depend on (anything) that I have done or will plan to do. Now the nice part is, I can't loose it, because I didn't do anything to get it, so I can't do anything to loose it. It all depends on Jesus and what He did for me. Now since Jesus is my Savior he will not be my judge. What I learned was that Jesus paid the price for all my sins, past, present and future, there wasn't a sin that He didn't pay for as long as I believe in Him. I learned that he not only paid for my sins, but for the sins of the whole World. So now it is not a problem of sin, between man and God, but what do you think of Jesus. There is actually one sin that Christ couldn't pay for and that is the sin of rejecting Him. I.e. not believing in, trusting in, or relying on Him solely, as being the only way to get to heaven. (Note) John 14:6 Jesus said to him “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” One neat part is that when God makes a promis, He can't take the promis back because if He did, the promis would have been a lie, and we all know that God can't lie, if He could He wouldn't be God! I even wrote a poem about it if you would care to read it? CONFIDENCE Are you sure of your eternal home, where you'll spend some billion years? Does the thought of death and it's permanence, arouse your doubts and fears? The Bible cites a dreadful place that doubters won't admire, They'll be cast out by an angry God, into the lake of fire! There's torment there both day and night, no help or place to run. People languish endless years, for rejecting God's dear Son. Jesus is the only way to avoid this awful place. He came and died a horrid death to save the human race. Now knowing this is not enough, your faith must be involved. By trusting in the work of Christ, the curse of sin's absolved. You can claim eternal life, for the Lord has made the promise. He died for you then rose again; don't be as doubting Thomas. You can't appease a Holy God by the puny things you do. God came down in the form of man and paid the price for you. Now Jesus sits on His throne on high, to Him all knees will bend. He will be the Judge to curse you, or, as your Savior He'll defend. Oh listen now the Bible heeds; don't add to the work of Christ! If you depend on what you've done, He'll not be your sacrifice. Trust in Christ, not your present ways; give God the credit due. He says He'll share His home with such, and give His peace to you. By Charles D. Bickett Jr. |

599 | New to the Word | Bible general Archive 1 | CDBJ | 17601
The best advice I could give would be to buy a good study Bible and start with the New Testament and read it through several times. I use about four diff. Translations but the one that I think is the best is the New American Standard. Pray before you study and confess any known sin in your life, so that God the Holy Spirit can teach you His truth. The footnotes help but just remember, they are not inspired by God. The best way to understand God's Word is by the rest of His word. I.e. He does not contradict Himself. (Psalm 119:160 a) The sum of Your Word is truth. CDBJ
