Greetings goef, Your questions are along the subject of eschatology, which is my favorite Biblical subject! There is a great book out, and one that has answered almost all of my puzzling questions and cleared up so many scriptures about future times and events that will take place on earth; you might want to get a copy. The book is called “The Sign” by Robert Van Kampen. Bob just passed away a few years ago, it seems that after he completed the book that his job here on earth was finished so the Lord took him home! There is a great web site also, that contains Bob’s teachings. http://www.solagroup.org/ Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum, In response to your question, in part, you suggest, “Can we say that at the time of the crucifixion that he did not die and that he was alive for three days in the tomb and the third day he arose?” Well, not trying to appear blunt, but we can take just about any Scripture and twist it around to say what we want but it doesn’t mean that it is true the way we say it. All Scripture must be considered in order to establish a true doctrine. Psalm 119:160 The sum of thy word is truth; (ASV) And every one of thy righteous ordinances endureth for ever. Jesus actually died as per Paul. 1 Cor. 15:1-8 Now I make known unto you brethren, the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye received, wherein also ye stand, [2] by which also ye are saved, if ye hold fast the word which I preached unto you, except ye believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which also I received: that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] and that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day according to the scriptures; [5] and that he appeared to Cephas; then to the twelve; [6] then he appeared to above five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep; [7] then he appeared to James; then to all the apostles; [8] and last of all, as to the child untimely born, he appeared to me also. If more Scripture is needed I will be happy to list more. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings Reighnskye, I would like to apologize for the way that some seem to come across on the forum! I think a lot of it has to do with the use of caps when they are trying to emphasize certain things. All of us as believers in Christ have a new nature but as long as we are in these mortal bodies we still are influenced by our old sin nature and sometimes it gets the upper hand and we tend to operate through the power of the flesh instead of the power of the Spirit. There is a good point of Scripture that we should all be aware of and take to heart when posting others. I believe the situation in question is being handled; In the meantime I would appreciate it if all would take the time to read the following and realize that the Lord is speaking to us as well as to those in Paul’s letter. 1 Cor. 13:1-13 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [2] And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [3] And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. [4] Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, [5] does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, [6] does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. [8] Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part; [10] but when the perfect comes, the partial will be done away. [11] When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. [12] For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known. [13] But now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. Zech. 4:6 Then he answered and said to me, "This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the Lord of hosts. We can’t force the Word of God, The Bible on any one all we can do is present it in a loving fashion with the following Scripture in mind! Matthew 16:17 And Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. 1 Tim. 2:3-4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, [4] who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. Greetings Dalcent and welcome to the forum, Have you come to the place yet, in your spiritual experience, where you can say for sure that you would spend eternity in heaven if you were to die suddenly, possibly within the next minute or two? I realize that is an awesome thought but if you were to stand before God in the next few minutes and He were to say to you, why should I let you come into my kingdom, what do you think you would say to Him? There have been many numerous answers that have been expressed on this forum with regards to that question, and it would be interesting to hear your views on that situation. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings Churchwork, You have stated in your post “In 10 years there will be so many Christian forums united and hundreds and hundreds of church localities mapped, knowing apostles and elders, not attached to corporations,” Do you suppose that things will be so good it could possibly help usher in the Kingdom or the millennial reign of Christ, with all that positive action? 533 | why does God allow evil to exsit | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 138091
Hello Shankara, Would you please expatiate on the statement you made on a previous post? I quote, “They have liberated me from the fundamentalistic world I was lost in before.” What “fundamentalist” doctrine would that be and how exactly are you liberated? Do you agree or disagree with the following? 1 Cor. 1:18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. CDBJ |

534 | why does God allow evil to exsit | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 138472
Thank you for the response but I’m not exactly sure what you are trying to say? You stated, “When I began meditation over twenty years ago and started feeling the Divine Pressense within me, besides noticing that everytime this occured I experienced more and more in the way of personal spiritual revelations in addition to just coincidentally being led to whatever sources held answers to some question on my mind,” It sounds like you still aren’t quite sure what’s going on, or is it my imagination? Where, if anywhere, does Christ fit into what you refer to as something? I quote, “I realized this religious thing, even cloaked under Constntine's franchise and soap-box, that still I got the answers that meant something, as well as adressing something, deep inside of my soul. As God revealed the light in meditation, I would then wallk therein.” What is this light you mentioned and the elusive, “something”? I guess I’m a little slow, “or something”, but I’m not sure what you are trying to say, please excuse my ignorance! You mentioned, “over twenty years ago and started feeling the Divine Pressense within me” What are these feelings and what exactly did you do to get them? I guess; cutting to the chase, what I would like to ask is, have you come to the place where you can say for sure that you are the possessor of a permanent position in heaven, and how do you know? Very interesting, CDBJ |

Hi Brad, You just never know when people use language that is nebulous and obstruct maybe they are coming are going or not tuned in at all? I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt until they prove otherwise. Like was said, Matthew 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. I have learned, it’s not what you know; it’s Who you know that makes the difference! Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Have a great day, CDBJ |

Greetings and welcome to the forum, In all of that testimony I didn’t read where you were a child of God and or a believer in Jesus. There are no tags on me, other then the fact that I am a son of God by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Why do you feel that you have to pigeonhole yourself; isn’t just being in the family of God and knowing for sure that you are secure in Christ, by the work of God through His Son enough? What are you looking for and why is it important unless you aren’t secure yet in Christ? CDBJ |

Greetings kw5kw, and welcome to the forum. I was saved reading a Douay Version of the Bible but shortly there after I started reading the KJV and all of the verses that I have memorized are from the KJV. We use the NIV in the church that I attend but if “I” were to pick a single version, that I like best, as far as being the closest to the actual meaning of the originals, it would probably be the ASV. I don’t know what it is about the KJV with me, but I guess the old saying applies, “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks”. I have to laugh to my self some times in church because a lot of the pastors get going, and even though we are looking at a particular verse of Scripture in the NIV, they will quote from memory the KJV with out even realizing it. When I get down to serious study I use about 10 different translations and even the Koine Greek, to get a better understanding of certain words. Have a great day, CDBJ |

539 | NIV bible | Bible general Archive 2 | CDBJ | 140092
Hi Russ, I have read numerous translations of the Bible and the salvation message is relatively clear in all of them. When it comes to other doctrines in the Word, or deeper things, some are misleading and are bad translations. When it comes to conveying the message of Christ to average English speaking people or the Gospel, the Koine English, or common English, of the New Living Translation is hard to beat but there are places in that translation that miss the meaning, of what the Koine Greek actually says. Here is an example of my favorite verses of Scripture. 1 John 5:10-13 (KJV) He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. [11] And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. [13] These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1 John 5:10-13 (NLT) All who believe in the Son of God know that this is true. Those who don't believe this are actually calling God a liar because they don't believe what God has testified about his Son. [11] And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. [12] So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life. [13] I write this to you who believe in the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life. These verses are very precious to me, CDBJ |

Hi lionheart, There is actually more Scripture in the Bible that talks about the second coming of Christ then there is Scripture that talks about His first coming! To reiterate everything that has been said on this forum, with regards to the second coming of Christ, and or the rapture, would be obviously ridiculous. You might want to check out the following site, unless you have preconceived ideas already and are too steadfast to be moved. I try to make it a point that if someone can prove something to me using Scripture I will give it an honest hearing. There is enough in this web site to keep you going for weeks! http://www.solagroup.org/ Have a great day, CDBJ |
