481 | Christian internet provider? | 1 Thess 4:5 | BMyers | 201560
Here is a link to a list of Christian internet providers: http://christianity.about.com/od/practicaltools/tp/christianisps.htm I have not tried any of these, so I cannot endorse any of them. There are other options you can consider trying besides just dumping your internet provider, espicially if you are happy with your service as a whole. Yet the internet provider isn't much of a Bible topic, but Lust is a real problem in today's world. 1TH 4:3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; 1TH 4:4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 1TH 4:5 not in lustful passion, like the Gentiles who do not know God; |

482 | who will rise first | 1 Thess 4:16 | BMyers | 234248
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. (1 Thessalonians 4:16 ESV) Brad |

483 | What does the Bibles say about Deacons? | 1 Timothy | BMyers | 224048
1 Timothey is what comes to mind when asked about qualifications. 1Ti 3:8 Deacons likewise must be dignified, not double-tongued, not addicted to much wine, not greedy for dishonest gain. 1Ti 3:9 They must hold the mystery of the faith with a clear conscience. 1Ti 3:10 And let them also be tested first; then let them serve as deacons if they prove themselves blameless. 1Ti 3:11 Their wives likewise must be dignified, not slanderers, but sober-minded, faithful in all things. 1Ti 3:12 Let deacons each be the husband of one wife, managing their children and their own households well. 1Ti 3:13 For those who serve well as deacons gain a good standing for themselves and also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus. 485 | do u tithe on unemployment checks | 1 Tim 1:8 | BMyers | 220680
This topic has been debated here at length, so I will give you what I was taught and what I ahve seen. My father taught me to tithe on the money I earned, allowance, mowing grass, whatever it might be. At that young age, I did not like it nor did I think it was fair. Why did God need my money, He has everything? At that younger age, I was not a joyful giver. My dad ended up being laid off from his job, but he never stopped tithing and not only that, to him it was not a burden, but he was a joyful giver. Talking with him over the years, he has since explained how tight things actually were in our house during that period. Yet, we never went hungry and every time the checkbook hit zero, money came in to meet our needs. He eventually was recalled to work and has since retired and living well. Through his example of putting God first, I have learned that what I am blessed with, money, family, friends, etc., are all God's. I have turned from that joyless giver and now gladly give back to the Lord, not because He needs it, but because I want Him to have it and use my blessing to bless others. Through my trust in the Lord, He has always met my needs and He has exceedingly blessed me beyond what I deserve. Brad Php 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (ESV) |

486 | 1Timothy2:1 -FURTHER EXPLANATION | 1 Tim 2:1 | BMyers | 222735
What part don't you understand (or is there particular part you are focusing in on)? 1First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, (NASB) Brad |

487 | "only believe" | 2 Tim 1:7 | BMyers | 225335
Well, at least you are in good company. Abraham in Genesis 12 dealt with fear, Lot was afraid (Genesis 19:30), Elijah in 1 Kings 19, and what about the disciples in Matthew 8:23-27. So you can see fear happens even to what I think most would call great men of God. Yet, we have to notice something else, fear doesn't come from God. 2 Timothy 1:7, makes this very clear. We are commended to follow Psalm 55:22. Most don't have a problem with casting them, yet we seem to want to pick them back up after they have been cast. If you are striving to overcome these within yourself, you can never do that on your own. Our works can't save us (Titus 3:4-7). Trying to keep this post a responsible thing, I will refer you to a website http://www.gotquestions.org/Bible-fear.html that have seen others reference on this forum which should give you a little more in depth information concerning fear. 488 | Resurrection Day or easter ? | 2 Tim 2:4 | BMyers | 221704
Act 12:4 And when he had apprehended him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people. (KJV) Definition of Easter according to Webster: a feast that commemorates Christ's resurrection and is observed with variations of date due to different calendars on the first Sunday after the paschal full moon. So in my opinion, when I call the celebration of Christ's resurrection Easter, I'm using the correct English term for it. Just my two cents. Brad |

489 | first indication of the holy spirit | 2 Tim 2:15 | BMyers | 227508
You know BradK, if those researching God's Word would just ACTS upon the assignment, most answers would only take one or TWO tries to research it and the answers would come RUSHING in like a mighty WIND filling them with knowledge. Yet, further research may even prove there is more to the answer than a riddle spoken in other TONGUES. The blessings students are missing by not doing their own research. Brad |

490 | God, brings wicked to destruction | 2 Tim 2:15 | BMyers | 233927
I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by this, I read it several times, but have I;m confused by what he is trying to state. It almost appears that Herman is trying to state God is evil because He will bring just judgement in the end that leads to destruction of the sinners, but I don't want put words into Mr. Herman's mouth. 491 | Colosse? | Philem 1:1 | BMyers | 202018
I would assume one reason is that tradition has him as the bishop of that city. Also, Colossians 4:18 speaks of Archippus, which he is spoken of in the greeting of Philemon. We can make some conclusions, Philemon and Archippus was in the same place, Colossians was written to the Christians in Colosse (Colossae), Philemon and Colossians is believed to be written at the same time (partially due to the names that are mentioned in Colossians 4). So putting everything together, it is concluded that Philemon is from Colosse. Brad (Maybe someone can give us a better answer, but this is the best I can do) |

Don't know and any guess on my part would be pure speculation. I've written letters to family and friends before and not mentioned everyone and others that I have mentioned just about everyone I could think of. Brad |

493 | Archippus? | Philem 1:2 | BMyers | 202017
According to Unger's Bible Dictionary: "A Christian minister at Colossae, to whom Paul sends a salutation, calling him "our Fellow soldier" (PHil 2), and whom he exhorts to increased activity (Col. 4:17), AD 61. In the epistle to Philemon he is addressed jointly with Philemon and Apphia, from which it has been inferred that he is a member of Philemon's family. Tradition states that he was one of Jesus' seventy disciples and suffered martyrdom at Chonae, near Laodicea." Brad |

494 | worker and soldier | Philem 1:2 | BMyers | 202057
This is when your handy dandy concordance comes into play. You can look up both of those words and see how often and where they are used. 'fellow soldier' (Strongs #4961) is used twice-once in the verse you mention and once in Php 2:25 'fellow worker'(Strongs #4904) is used 6 times (fellow workers-6 times and workers-1) Rom 16:9, 16:21; 2Co 8:23; Php 2:25; 1Th 3:2 (plus the verse you mentioned) Brad |

495 | Elaborate on last days timeframe | Heb 1:2 | BMyers | 213335
Not everyone agrees on the issue for looking for guidance outside of scripture (Holy Spirit). When you use the term "we" I'm assuming that you are reffering to the mindset of Doc and yourself, which I believe is Cessationists, but not all Christians believe in this theology. I can say after reading books that Doc has recommended and others have recommended, that I'm not of that mindset and still feel that the Holy Spirit can and does prompt us and guide us, but never contradicts scripture (this could be a very long post, but at work right now). 497 | Elaborate on last days timeframe | Heb 1:2 | BMyers | 213343
Doc, still working (bummer to be at work on Saturday, but thankful for job), do you believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that they are still active today? My understanding from previous conversations, were no. The classification of this is cessationism, which there are various levels and as you have pointed out maybe it isn't various levels of cessationism, but of continuationism. Saying that a person is going outside of what the Bible teaches by believing in the gift of tongues or prophecy, I believe, this is where we disagree. Discussing the gifts of the Holy Spirit, I don't believe is violating the terms of use of the forum. Just because some don't believe they are still active, doesn't mean they are right, especially since the debate centers on the very scriptures themselves and how one understands 1 Corinthians 13:8 and "perfect". Unfortunately brief notes don’t always allow full explanations, purpose wasn’t to offend, but point out different view point that is scripturally based. Brad |

498 | What does "Edens Dawn Light Mean?" | Heb 2:9 | BMyers | 200922
The Salvation Pioneer God didn't put angels in charge of this business of salvation that we're dealing with here. It says in Scripture, What is man and woman that you bother with them; why take a second look their way? You made them not quite as high as angels, bright with Eden's dawn light; Then you put them in charge of your entire handcrafted world. When God put them in charge of everything, nothing was excluded. But we don't see it yet, don't see everything under human jurisdiction. What we do see is Jesus, made "not quite as high as angels," and then, through the experience of death, crowned so much higher than any angel, with a glory "bright with Eden's dawn light." In that death, by God's grace, he fully experienced death in every person's place. From the Message |

499 | Can someone explain these verses to me? | Heb 4:15 | BMyers | 207785
(Heb 4:15 ESV) For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. (Heb 4:16 ESV) Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Jesus has been tempted in all the same ways we will or could be, so He knows what we are going through, yet He stood strong and can approach Him with the knowledge that He knows and understands. |

500 | what is Hebrews 10:25 saying? | Heb 10:25 | BMyers | 201950
MT 18:20 “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.” As the others have stated, the body needs all its members to help edify each other. HEB 3:13 But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called “Today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 1TH 5:11 Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.
