241 | was garden of eden in heaven | Genesis | BMyers | 230788
Genesis 2:4 is where I believe she is quoting. The NASB has a footnote (a.Genesis 2:4 Lit These are the generations) about the verse and the ESV translates it as "These are the generations of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens. (Genesis 2:4 ESV)" Still not following her question though, but I think that is the verse she was referring to. |

245 | What ia a parapet | Gen 1:1 | BMyers | 220877
Basically a wall. It can be used to protect people from dangers, such as a drop off on the edge of a cliff or it can be a wall built to protect soldiers, just depends on the context that it is being used in. Brad |

247 | who was the first black and why? | Gen 1:26 | BMyers | 201431
Why do you say "all races" were created in 1:26, 27? In the Unger's Bible Dictionary on page 313, it gives a break down of where different tribes descended from based on Noah's Sons. It would appear that African based races descended from Ham. |

248 | who was the first black and why? | Gen 1:26 | BMyers | 201468
I always love it when people use the word "impossible". It is "impossible" that a person who is dead for three days comes back to life. It is "impossible" for the world to be created in 6 days. It is "impossible" for man to be created from dirt. It is "impossible" to feed five thousand with a few loaves and couple of fish. My God specializes in the "impossible". MT 19:26 And looking at them Jesus said to them, “ With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” 1CO 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1CO 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. |

249 | who was the first black and why? | Gen 1:26 | BMyers | 201494
The quick reply to this is read the story of the flood in Genesis. See who went onto the ark Genesis 7:13. As your progress through the story, what happen to all mankind (Genesis 7:21-23). Genesis 9:1 starts the population of the earth all over again. So, all races started with Noah and his family. Sorry I don't have more time for a longer post, but I have to head out the door to work. 250 | who was the first black and why? | Gen 1:26 | BMyers | 201576
You say all races, your question was the African race. All races came from Noah's family. All nations descend from Noah's family. Read Genesis chapter 10. The Hamites were located in the southwestern Asia and northeast Africa. Cush, Put, and Mizraim located in Africa. Once again, I have to head out the door to work so the answer is short. Brad |

251 | Who are Us? | Gen 3:22 | BMyers | 197837
My understanding the 'Us' is God who is speaking on behalf of all the heavenly host. The 'take also' is referring to them eating the fruit of life just as they had eaten the fruit of tree of good/evil. The phrasing of the scripture can make it a little confusing. I don't care for paraphrased Bibles much, but once in a while they come in handy. 22 Then the LORD God said, "Look, the human beings* have become like us, knowing both good and evil. What if they reach out, take fruit from the tree of life, and eat it? Then they will live forever!" |

252 | Fallen angels? | Gen 6:4 | BMyers | 199906
My limited understanding of the verses you are referring to (Genesis 6:1-4) is that there are two accepted interpretations to these verses. The first, is that 'the sons of God' refers to fallen angels. Most will use Job 1:6 and 2:1 to help support this argument. Also, Jude 6,7 is used to give further proof. The other view is that 'the sons of God' were descendants of Seth and they married daughters of Cain. Matthew 22:30 is given as proof for this argument. To be honest with you, I haven't study it enough to really make my own decision on which I feel is correct. I just know enough that there are predominately to different view points on this passage of scriptures. Hope that helps some. Maybe someone that has study the topic more can give more insight. Brad |

253 | Where is this date from? | Gen 7:12 | BMyers | 215013
Hi Vintage68, Where did you get your date of 8402? So far, nothing I have read validates this date. I was wondering where and how it was calculated. Thanks, Brad |

254 | Where is this date from? | Gen 7:12 | BMyers | 215032
Thanks, for explaining. You may want to do some additional research, due to the flood date has been placed between 2,000 and 3,000 BC by some Biblical scholars (some even go older). I will not pretend to understand it all, but I know from the articles I read, that the estimates (fancy word for guess) on the flood date was centered around dates of the Exodus and other events that they can tie to known event dates and then they work back from those dates. I checked my ESV Study Bible, NKJV Chronological Bible, and NASB Zondervan Study Bible which all had dates of 2,000BC or older. (Remembering these are just educated guesses.) Maybe someone that has spent time studying this topic of dating could explain better than I, but it is an interesting topic (I've only read a little on Biblical dating (not talking about the boy-girl dating either)), not only dating of the flood, but many Biblical events. 256 | Who are the Ammonites? | Gen 10:16 | BMyers | 201538
Hey Doc, Question, my Bible dictionaries and online Catholic Encyclopedia, plus a few other sites do list the "Ammonites" as the correct reference for the Ammon descendants. The dead sea creature is spelt with the lower case 'ammonite'. Is there a difference of opinions on the proper name for this race or did I miss something along the way. Thanks, Brad |

258 | Keturah, wife or concubine? | Gen 25:1 | BMyers | 203399
Reading a few different commentaries, it appears they all agree she was wife. The discussion comes into play is rather she was a concubine prior to the marriage and the role she played prior to marriage. Brad |
