Tom, you made many statements in your note to me. I would like to address them one by one. 1) You said “With so much material from Watchtower to read, the one book they neglect for answers is the Bible.” “Every year, with thousands of pages of Watchtower material to read, e.g. lessons, books, magazines, and such, but limited Bible reading assigned”. You were correct in part. Yes Jehovah’s Witnesses do have a much material to read. Our material is bible based. That means that the foundation of our publications is from the bible. However you are incorrect in saying that we neglect the bible for answers. We take bible reading very seriously. Jehovah’s Witnesses greatly appreciate their Bible study aids, including The Watchtower, and use these regularly. But we know that none of them take the place of the Bible itself. We never forget that the Bible is our Standard and that however God-given our helps may be they are ‘helps’ and not substitutes for the Bible. We carefully examined the Scriptures daily’ to determine the Scriptural basis for what was being taught.—Acts 17:11. Daily Bible reading will help us to “walk worthily of Jehovah to the end of fully pleasing him” instead of allowing the world to squeeze us into its mold.—Colossians 1:9, 10; Romans 12:2. 2) You said “Jesus instructed HIS FOLLOWERS in Acts 1:8 “You will be MY WITNESSES … even to the remotest parts of the earth.” “And they were JESUS CHRIST’S witnesses, as stated in Acts 11:26 that the disciples first came to be known as CHRISTians.” That is also correct. That is when the disciples were first called Christians. However, Do you recall Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness.” Jesus Christ came to bare witness to his father. By bearing witness to the truth, Jesus glorified the name of his heavenly Father. (John 17:4, 6) He laid bare religious falsehoods, preached the good news of the Kingdom, and opened the door to spiritual freedom for those in religious bondage. (Matthew 15:3-9; Luke 4:43; John 18:37). Did you know that we too do this? There are Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s witnesses in over 230 lands worldwide and in every language. We also show that we are followers of Jesus by doing the work that he sent his disciples to do at Luke 10:1-3. Jesus sent his followers out to the people. From House to house. And that my friend is why Jehovah’s Witnesses go knocking on doors in the rain sleet and snow. We practice loving our neighbors as we do ourselves. We have information from the bible. Not anything that we have made up, heard or assume to be true. Only that which can be proven from the Holy bible. “We must obey God as ruler rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) 3) You said “Speaking of Watchtower. Does that CD ROM have access to old copies of their literature? You know, the ones that PROPHECED things that embarrassed The Society almost into extinction.” Well Tom, yes we do have access to all the old literature. The Watchtower Society does not try and hide their mistakes from us. And your right that was a very embarrassing thing. But let me ask you something Tom, Have you ever made a mistake in your family that may have embarrassed the family and you had to correct it? Well this is also something that had to be corrected. The only way to correct these things is from diligent and thorough study of the scriptures. By doing this we also learned of other things that needed correcting. Did you know that witnesses also use to smoke(Romans 12:1), take blood (Genesis 9:4, Acts 15:20), and wear the cross? (1 Cor. 10:14, 1John 5:21). Because of careful bible study we see that these things should not be done by followers of Christ. 4) you said Jehovah’s Witnesses won’t accept any other bible except NWT. Well that is not true. We use KGV, Today’s English version, NASB and others. We do prefer the NWT because Jehovah’s name put in the proper places. The name Jehovah was in the Original Holy Scriptures over 7000 times. In most newer bibles the name Jehovah is replaced with Lord. This makes it harder for people to understand that there is a difference between Jehovah the father and Jesus the Son. Also notice that most people cannot understand the language in the KGV. This is also why there have been so many different translations published. People have a desire to understand what they read. So before you criticize the New World Translation compare bibles for yourself. It helps us all to understand what we read. |

24 | where did Jesus go after dieing? | NT general Archive 1 | Aniset | 115790
Definition: The word "hell" is found in many Bible translations. In the same verses other translations read "the grave," "the world of the dead," and so forth. Other Bibles simply transliterate the original-language words that are sometimes rendered "hell"; that is, they express them with the letters of our alphabet but leave the words untranslated. What are those words? The Hebrew she'ohl´ and its Greek equivalent hai´des, which refer, not to an individual burial place, but to the common grave of dead mankind; also the Greek ge´en·na, which is used as a symbol of eternal destruction. However, both in Christendom and in many non-Christian religions it is taught that hell is a place inhabited by demons and where the wicked, after death, are punished (and some believe that this is with torment). The question is, What does the bible say? The Bible says that Jesus Christ was in hell three days and was resurrected from there. In a prophecy concerning him, it explains: "Thou wilt not leave my soul in hell [sheol]; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption." (Ps. 16:10; Acts 2:31) Also, Jonah was a man that was as in hell and got out alive. When swallowed by a big fish, Jonah said: "Out of the belly of hell [sheol] cried I." (Jonah 2:2) Where was Jonah? In the fish's belly, and there was no fire there! What, then, is hell? Let us see from the Bible. At Genesis 37:35 Jacob, one of Jesus' forefathers, when mourning for his son Joseph, whom he thought to be dead, lamented: "I will go down into the grave [sheol] unto my son mourning." Here the American Standard Version leaves the Hebrew word sheol untranslated; the King James Version renders it "grave," but the Catholic Douay Version renders it "hell." Obviously sheol, or hell, is mankind's common grave. And note that the Bible says: "Death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them." (Rev. 20:13) Yes, all those in hell are to be resurrected! So when we are trying to get clearity of the scriptures we should never lean on our own understanding but continue to search and research to see what is true. |

25 | Verse were Jesus defeats hell? | NT general Archive 1 | Aniset | 115792
The fact that Jesus died and was raised up to everlasting life shows that he defeated death. Remember death was supposed to be forever. It is because of out forfather Adam, that we all inherit sin and death. However Almighty God made arrangements for a redeamer Jesus Christ to come and give his life as a ransom in exchange for many. It is because of this that we have a chance for everlasting life.

Colin, My job is simply to preach GODS words. I am aware that all will not accept. However, whenever there is someone that is interested in learning more about GODS word the bible all I can do is offer my services. Sometimes it helps when we can have one one help. Take note Colin, everyone has a choice to do what they want. If they do or don't want to study with a Jehovah's Witness it's up to them. I am not trying force the word on anyone. I have also heard many things on this forum that has no bibical foundation, but you don't see me telling people not to talk to you. I posted my e-mail address because 1. I wanted to share the bible's message in an organized way with someone that seemed interested. 2. I saw someone else leave their e-mail address and nothing was said. So I thought it was okay. So are you complaining because I am a Witness or because I have done something wrong? If I have done something wrong or offended Classy, Please forgive me. Take time yourself to find out what we believe and why we believe it before you pass judgement. I am not trying to take anything from you. If you know the truth about something share it. And if you would like to know more about Jehovah's Witiness beliefs you can e-mail me as well. I am not trying to convert youor argue with you. |

Be careful! "You said that Jesus is the uncreated son of God." That's not what the forum rules say. It says begotten, that means created, made, Fathered etc. Maybe we should put you off the forum. "We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only Begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary." |

30 | when was lucifer kicked out of heaven | Genesis | Aniset | 117631
Genesis 1:1-5 is explaining creation, Day,Night,Water, Earth etc.. However, Revelation wich is a prophey of the last days says at Revelation 12:7 That a war broke out in Heaven. And the 9th verse says that Satan was then cast down onto the earth. It would be helpful to read 12:1-10 it sheds more light on the topic. |

We can't go on what we think. We can only prove what the bible says. The bible helps us to see that Satan had not been kicked out of heaven in the beginning because he was still able to to go between earth to heaven in the book of Job 2:2. You said:"how could He create something formless and void?" You must remember that One day to God is like one thousand days to us. 2Peter 3:8 So the bible is not talking about 7 literal days. |

Yes Adam and Eve were her parents. Genesis 3:20 Remember the first people on earth were Adam and Eve. That bible does not say that God made others besides them. They were told to fill the earth Genesis 1:28. At that time humans were very close to perfection, so them having sex with siblings did not have the same affect on them as it would us. insest was allowed only to allow the earth to be populated. And in Gods appointed time it was cut off. |

The marrage arrangement then was not the same as it is now. Back then they could choose a woman and take her as their wife. Now in order to be married we must have a binding legal license according to the law of the land. |

Many years passed before this happened. They were allowed to populate. Remember people lived a lot longer then. It would not have been hard for all of those people to have been born inhundreds of years. Also the bible never says that Adam And Eve had a certain amount of children. It only pointed out certain ones. |

37 | God refers to himself as "The great I Am | Ex 3:14 | Aniset | 114689
At the time this question was asked ot GOD, the people had not seen Jehovah demonstrate his power in the ways in which he was going to show them. So what he was saying at Exodus 3:14 was that he will prove to be what he proves to be or in other words He causes to become. (Jehovah and Yahwah both mean: he causes to become.)this is why we know Jehovah as the Great Purposer. What ever he wills, no matter how impossable it my seem to us,Jehovah can make it happen. The following is some other bible translations. Exodus 3:14 :: New American Standard Bible (NASB) Exodus 3 14 God said to Moses, " I AM WHO I AM"; and He said, "Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" Footnotes 1. Related to the name of God, YHWH, rendered LORD, which is derived from the verb HAYAH, to be Exodus 3:14 :: New Living Translation (NLT) Exodus 3 14God replied, "I AM THE ONE WHO ALWAYS IS.[1] Just tell them, I AM has sent me to you.' " Footnotes 2. 3:14 Or I AM WHO I AM, or I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE. Exodus 3:14 :: Contemporary English Version (CEV) Exodus 3 14-15God said to Moses: I am the eternal God. So tell them that the LORD, [1] whose name is " I Am," has sent you. This is my name forever, and it is the name that people must use from now on. Footnotes 3. 3.14,15 LORD: The Hebrew text has " Yahweh," which is usually translated " LORD" in the CEV. Since it seems related to the word translated " I am," it may mean " I am the one who is" or " I will be what I will be" or " I am the one who brings into being." |

39 | Loyal to who?? | Numbers | Aniset | 104248
I have been waiting for a question like this . Jesus is not GOD, He is GOD's only begotten son. This is confusing to a lot of people because the new translations of the bible has taken GOD's name out and replaced it with Lord, thus making people believe that they are one in the same. Most Churches also do not teach the differance between GOD the father and Jesus the son. GOD's name in JEHOVAH if said in English and YAHWEH in Hebrew. Jehovah Definition: The personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. "Jehovah" is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton, ????, which means "He Causes to Become." These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH. Where is God's name found in Bible translations that are commonly used today? The New English Bible: The name Jehovah appears at Exodus 3:15; 6:3. See also Genesis 22:14; Exodus 17:15; Judges 6:24; Ezekiel 48:35. (But if this and other translations use "Jehovah" in several places, why not be consistent in using it at every place where the Tetragrammaton appears in the Hebrew text?)Revised Standard Version: A footnote on Exodus 3:15 says: "The word LORD when spelled with capital letters, stands for the divine name, YHWH." Today's English Version: A footnote on Exodus 6:3 states: "THE LORD: . . . Where the Hebrew text has Yahweh, traditionally transliterated as Jehovah, this translation employs LORD with capital letters, following a usage which is widespread in English versions." King James Version: The name Jehovah is found at Exodus 6:3; Psalm 83:18; Isaiah 12:2; 26:4. See also Genesis 22:14; Exodus 17:15; Judges 6:24. American Standard Version: The name Jehovah is used consistently in the Hebrew Scriptures in this translation, beginning with Genesis 2:4. I would love to talk more about this please e-mail me at (a_friend31@lycos.com) |

40 | Explain the Holy Trinity-verysimple form | Numbers | Aniset | 104252
Is such reasoning hard to follow? Many sincere believers have found it to be confusing, contrary to normal reason, unlike anything in their experience. How, they ask, could the Father be God, Jesus be God, and the holy spirit be God, yet there be not three Gods but only one God? THIS confusion is widespread. The Encyclopedia Americana notes that the doctrine of the Trinity is considered to be "beyond the grasp of human reason." Many who accept the Trinity view it that same way. Monsignor Eugene Clark says: "God is one, and God is three. Since there is nothing like this in creation, we cannot understand it, but only accept it." Cardinal John O'Connor states: "We know that it is a very profound mystery, which we don't begin to understand." And Pope John Paul II speaks of "the inscrutable mystery of God the Trinity."HOW could such a confusing doctrine originate? The Catholic Encyclopedia claims: "A dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelation." Catholic scholars Karl Rahner and Herbert Vorgrimler state in their Theological Dictionary: "The Trinity is a mystery . . . in the strict sense . . . , which could not be known without revelation, and even after revelation cannot become wholly intelligible." However, contending that since the Trinity is such a confusing mystery, it must have come from divine revelation creates another major problem. Why? Because divine revelation itself does not allow for such a view of God: "God is not a God of confusion."-1 Corinthians 14:33, Revised Standard Version (RS). |
