Prov 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov 8:11 "For wisdom is better than jewels; And all desirable things cannot compare with her. Prov 24:13 My son, eat honey, for it is good, Yes, the honey from the comb is sweet to your taste; know that wisdom is thus for your soul; If you find it, then there will be a future, And your hope will not be cut off. |

23 | Similarities of Isaac and Jesus | Gen 17:19 | 2Tim215 | 180487
I was thinking…Isaac and Jesus are very similar. 1. they were the fulfillment of a promise (Isaac–Genesis 17:19, jesus Isa. 7:14"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.) 2. They were born impossibly (Sarah was barren, and Mary was a virgin!) |

24 | Stephen performed miracles too? | Acts 6:8 | 2Tim215 | 180461
Well, Jesus did say that faith the size of a mustard seed can throw a mountain into the sea. Also, Disciple and Apostle are used practically interchangably between bible translations. A disciple is a learner (if you look at the definition of it) and Jesus called his disciples his mother and brothers (Matt 12:49). So, logically, if we are brothers/co-heirs with Christ, we are his disciples as well. And besides. The Apostles did the miracles through the Holy Spirit. Since believers have the Holy Spirit as well, wouldn't it make sense modern-day believers can do miracles as well? Hope this helps!!! |

26 | Stephen performed miracles too? | Acts 6:8 | 2Tim215 | 180476
Matt. 17:20 is the mustard seed… Mark 13:11 "When they arrest you and hand you over, do not worry beforehand about what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour; for it is not you who speak, but it is the Holy Spirit." Luke 4:1 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led around by the Spirit in the wilderness Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 5:32 "And we are witnesses of these things; and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him." god bless |

Thank you for your rebuke; it is very welcome. I will step from the boundries of "the box" and ask a simple question, "Why not?" If God wants us to do miracles, we will! If he wants us to move mountains, we shall. We are co-heirs with Christ. The Holy Spirit is given as our down-payment, before we see Christ clearly. "For now we see though a glass, darkly, but then we shall see in full." You may look up the verses (I have to leave in a few minutes), but the apostles did their miracles through the Holy Spirit. Again, I say that if it's God's purpose for us to do it, why can't we? Some things are accepted on faith, because if there was sight it wouldn't be faith anymore! And besides. Please show me how I'm taking verses out of context. And you might be right about that proof texting stuff…I'm so used to ninth-grade Geometry and the Proofs everyone hated so much. but anyway. Thanks very much. god bless |

28 | from romans 6 12-14 two examples of sin | Rom 6:12 | 2Tim215 | 180300
I agree with others who have answered this question. My take is; we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices to God. That probably means everything we have is for Him to use as a sacrifice of Love (3 John something-or-other). Also, we are to be temples. I bet someone was asking Paul, "Should we go to the temple to worship God?" and Paul said, "Our bodies are temples. Take care of them." See, in the OT, the temple was where God's spirit lived. The priests offered sacrifices there, to where his spirit hung over the Ark of the Covenant. In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit lives IN us, instead of a huge gold building. So, since God's spirit is in us, Romans tells us to get rid of sins and un-godly things. "…For fresh water and salt water cannot flow from the same spring." (James 3:11-12) |

We offer our bodies to God by doing what he wants us to do. Usually, it is sacrificing what WE want for what God wants. And I think you're on the right track. Keep digging! |

30 | wife dating another married man secretly | Rom 13:14 | 2Tim215 | 180363
Well, it would be very suspicious, to say the least. It really depends on what the wife knows in her heart; if she knows she's betraying her husband, she is committing adultery. In the end, it's up to God; he is the judger of man's heart (somewhere in the new testament, but I can't remember the exact words).
31 | reminds me of GREAT book I just finished | 1 Cor 16:14 | 2Tim215 | 182820
This verse makes me think of a AMAZING book I just read called "Changed into his Image" by Jim Berg. The book is pretty much "the bible for dummies" if you'll pardon the expression. It pretty much covers the whole reason for Christianity; why we needed Jesus in the first place (our sin problem), why the flesh bothers us even after we've been saved, how God is using our circumstances to sanctify us to Him. It told me the one thing I've been missing in the Christian life; how the bible tells us who God and Jesus ARE. The book doesn't point to itself, but lies itself prostrate before Jesus and proclaims in huge, blood-bough words, "HE is the way, truth, and life. No one comes to the father except through Him." If I owned any two books, it would be the Bible and Changed into His Image. It's perfect for disciple-makers and christians, new and old. I TOTALLY recommend it, and you're missing out if you don't try to find it. I think BK publishers put it out…it reknewed my faith in God a thousand-fold. Not gonna lie. I don't think there's anything to say in response to this, so… God bless! |

32 | "Verses (equals) no cussing" please? | Eph 4:29 | 2Tim215 | 180414
I have just recently stopped cussing; I finally figured out how totally stupid and meaningless it is. A friend of mine has started cussing and no matter what I tell him, he won't believe me and STOP. Any recommendations, bible verses, etc to help me out would be awesome. thanks. |

33 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | 2Tim215 | 180299
Women are told to remain silent because Man was made first. In marriage, the man is the head of the woman, and Christ is the head of the man. And, two sexes are only one flesh in marriage. But, everyone comes to God through Jesus so in that sense we are equals. And I am a female. I will admit that I have gone to the front of the church during the invitation to say something God has lead me to say before EVERYONE. I think that it is better to obey God than to follow 1 Timothy 2:12 and sin in disobedience. Of course, in all of this, I am not very wise yet. Rebuke is welcome. Personally, whatever that is on the outside is just a reflection of what's on the inside; like my pastor says, "What's down in the well comes up in the bucket." But, physical looks are meaningless. I know a lot of ugly people who are the nicest and wisest I've ever met. Who I associate with stems from who someone is on the inside. god bless |

and you are absolutely right. I stand corrected, and I'm going to think for a very long time. one last question, just because I'm thinking, not because I want to jab at you. What if there is something that must be done–I must do it. But, there is no one to speak for me. What do I do? thanks. |

35 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | 2Tim215 | 180361
I agree with both Adam and Eve being in the image of God. After all, He gave both genders the brain, soul, and authority over the earth (genesis 1:28). And I've never thought of man and woman being one body and the female is the inner organs…thanks… |

36 | Whats a womens place in the Church? | 1 Tim 2:12 | 2Tim215 | 180383
Okay. I know this sounds wierd, but just hang with me, here. I was baptized at a young age, but there was no faith. In 2000, our church did the Fourty Days of Purpose (by Rick Warren). I realized I had to get my life straight. "but I'm already baptized!" I protested to the heart-wrenching knowlegde I had to accept Christ as my savior. I couldn't stop thinking about it. The feeling is like a persistent whisper, and yet so powerful it almost makes me start trembling. Well, this time I told God i'm sorry for my sins, and would he please save me with Christ's blood? I knew I'd done the right thing. i went forward in the Invitation to be baptized (again) but this time I knew I was following my Lord (see, my Dad wasn't too hot on the whole idea but I did it anyway). Now, I found something Ezekiel did/saw/whatever! in the Old Testament–you know, when he's standing in the cave and God was like, stand at the entrance when you hear me come by. So the wind, fire, and earthquake came but God wasn't in them. Then a whisper came and Ezekiel knew it was God. This feeling is like a river, taking my heartbeat with it. It's the smallest whisper; the knowledge that I MUST glorify Jesus's name and share some wisdom he's given me. Example: One day, our pastor was talking about walking on the water. He said we have to be like Peter; he obeyed his lord and walked on water. But, we have to keep our eyes on Jesus or we'll sink. Well, his words made me think of Cross Country, in which I run. See, the rules of "water walking" are just like CC––You have to keep your eyes up (on jesus) or you slow down, You can't walk off the track/quit or you're disqualified, etc. and I KNEW, down in my heart, that I needed to share the revelation with the congregation. I didn't have a single "good" reason to go forward and tell it except that that feeling was shaking my world. So I went forward. Another example: A friend of mine has anger management issues like you wouldn't believe. He's angry at everything and everyone, including God. Our church has a Christmas Play every year (it usually includes the nativity, but it has a different plot every year) and I got the Feeling to invite my friend to it. I knew it would be hard. He's always with his other friends, and he kinda scares me anyway. But I swallowed my huge fear and gave him the invitation anyway. I guess you could call the feeling a burden, too. It's like a weight on the shoulders of my heart. I would be credulous about the feeling, too, if it wasn't for the fact my words spoke for Jesus's name every time. it feels good to get that out onto paper. thanks for asking. god bless. |

37 | CAN WOMEN BE CHURCH LEADERS?? | 1 Tim 2:12 | 2Tim215 | 180450
There is only one problem with women being leaders; the husband is the head of the woman just as Christ is head of the church. And, I don't want to insult anyone, but most of the female bishops and stuff in churches show themselves to not be true believers in Christ. Just the other day I was listening to a radio interview with this one female bishop on the East Coast. She didn't believe there was one solid truth! She didn't believe in the Bible's god-inspiredness and she was in authority!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So…I guess you can judge with all the answers I see underneath this question! |

38 | Theological Terms: Various Heresies | 1 John 4:2 | 2Tim215 | 180408
Sorry to but in, but this is kinda confusing for a blonde like me : ) Okay. Let me get this straight. Jesus is an ordinary man (except that he was born of a virgin, etc) with the Holy Spirit as his soul? fully God, but fully man? He is the Lord, and he has been given authority over everything. He died as a final sacrifical Lamb, but showed his authority over death by rising on the third day. Am I correct on all points? thanks. 2 Tim 2:15–Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth. NASB |

40 | Will we have flashbacks of the past? | Revelation | 2Tim215 | 180276
Who knows! Like it says in Revelations–we peer through a darkened glass. But, we are told that God will open "all the books". I'm assuming every little dirty detail of our lives will be spoken aloud by Him. Then, Jesus will step forward and say we've been redeemed by his blood. |
