1 | what is the church of christ? | Bible general Archive 3 | gospelmann | 167283
You have asked what might seem like a simple question but it actually can be very deep and creat some arguements over how it is defined. In the simplest and most general terms it is a reference to the body of Christ (see Rom12:3-5 and Eph4:1-6)or in other words the collective, unified group of believers in Christ, past, present and future. The use of the term church of Christ appears in most denominational literature and is often considered as part of their name. An example would be "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints" or the official name of the Catholic Church which is "The Holy Roman Catholic Church of Christ". You will also see "The church of Christ" alone on some places of worship. I personally belong to this group. Some would say that we are just another denomination but I would disagree. We are simply the body of Christ, no less and no more.(Rom16:16)

gospelman, Greetings, actually it's not as deep and complicated as we make it out to be. We will inevitabely get into trouble when we pursue things along denominational lines,it never fails. But it becomes very clear and simple when Gods Word is allowed to speak for itself. Takes all the guess work out of things. 1 Corinthians 12 addresses the whole subject with great clarity and understadability. Att to vs 27. No matter what differences we may have,if we are to beleive what God tells us in His Word then we gotta know that it is totally available for us to be unified and like minded. In Christ, lionheart |
