To MommieSadie, The Word of God is companionship and should be examined for its richness in the Bible. Read the Book of Love which is John(New Testament) as many times as it takes to have a breakthrough that speaks directly into your heart. Find a good commentary book like "The MacArthur New Testament Commentary Matthew 1-7" to read a true expounding of Jesus' Sermon on The Mount. Let this great expositor John MacArthur help enrich the bible for you that you can see deeper into the Word of God and start to feel the love that exists in Gods Word for you. I would suggest you go to a local large vibrant Holy Spirit filled church that has lots of resources to help you in every way that you need help. Let your local fellow Christian believers shower upon you the Grace of God through their loving and caring actions for you, and with you. But, you must take a step like a baby taking her first faltering step. Take one day at a time and ask for help at your local church. Realize that it may take years to get where you will be a strong enough Christian to realize God has been with you all along. If you have ever listened to a Sermon that caused the hairs on the back of your neck to raise then it is an indication that the Holy Spirit is bearing witness with your consience that the words you are hearing are true. Right now, read this and feel the hair on your neck raise...We who are reading your words feel your pain and want to point you to Jesus who can heal your hurting heart. Know that God will come to you like he came to many of us...in a still small voice and say to you also..."You are a lost lamb". Repent and atone for your sins and put your faith in Jesus that you will find salvation. Also, to protect yourself from making further bad choices that might make your life an even bigger mess do not publish your home address on the internet. There are dangerous people who would love to exploit your vulnerabilities and you do not need further damage caused by someone you thought was a Christian. In the name of Christ I pray for His peace to come to you and bring you everlasting peace through salvation. Love you, MWLaine |

You write: "If you have ever listened to a Sermon that caused the hairs on the back of your neck to raise then it is an indication that the Holy Spirit is bearing witness with your consience that the words you are hearing are true. Right now, read this and feel the hair on your neck raise..." The Word of God needs no hairs on the back of your neck to rise to confirm the truth of the Scriptures. The rising of the hairs on the back of one's neck is neither proof nor evidence of anything. The Word of God stands whether neck hairs do or not. We do not prove the Word of God by emotional experiences. Rather we prove (test) our experiences by the Word of God. By the way, the Bible nowhere says that the Holy Spirit bears witness with our conscience. What it says is: "The Spirit Himself bears witness WITH OUR SPIRIT that we are children of God," Romans 8:16 NKJV (Emphasis added.) If anyone is looking for a touchy feely cuddly forum, this one isn't it. |

FANATICAL ECSTASY Can't Replace the Word of God 'The "external Word" is the Book (the Bible). And the saving, sanctifying, illuminating Spirit of God, he (Martin Luther) says, comes to us through this "external Word." 'Luther calls it the "external Word" to emphasize that it is objective, fixed, outside ourselves, and therefore unchanging. It is a Book. Neither ecclesiastical hierarchy NOR FANATICAL ECSTASY can replace it or shape it. It is "external," like God. You can take or leave it. But you can't make it other than what it is. It is a book with fixed letters and words and sentences. 'And Luther said with resounding forcefulness in 1545, the year before he died, "Let the man who would hear God speak, read Holy Scripture"...Earlier he had said in his lectures on Genesis, "The Holy Spirit himself and God, the Creator of all things, is the Author of this book" (see note 6). One of the implications of the fact that the Word of God comes to us in a book is that the theme of this conference is "The Pastor and His Study," not "The Pastor and His Seance," or "The Pastor and His Intuition," or "The Pastor and His Religious Multi-perspectivalism." The Word of God that saves and sanctifies, from generation to generation, is preserved in a Book.' (Emphasis added.) ____________________ By John Piper. © Desiring God. Website: www.desiringGod.
