1 | what about a Bible study??? | Bible general Archive 2 | JCrichton | 122541 | ||
Hi, Mike! Paul had many things to say... he presented many arguments... they all centered on Jesus! Here's a little tip he left us: Do not stifle the Spirit or despise the gift of prophecy with contempt; test everything and hold on to what is good and shun every form of evil. (1 Thessalonians 5:19-22) I recommend the same... whatever your endeavor and however you engage a Bible study: humble yourself to the Holy Spirit, ask Him for guidance, seek the advise of others, test the responses in light of the Holy Scriptures, and confide on our Lord to enlighten your mind and spirit. God Bless! Angel |

Hi, Angel! I totally agree with what you said, and I am looking forward to some the knowledge I can gain from a Bible study on the forum. Ray recamended a study starting in Micah, sounds great, short book and it will test the feasability of a Bible study in this type of format, as well as give us a chance to iron out any bugs in the actuall format. So with that said unless someone has another suggestion lets read the book over the next day or two and then post questions under the heading "Micah Bible study"... Love, Mike |

Hi, Mike! Sorry I was gone for a bit... Got on line late or should I say waaaay early this Sunday... Micah is a good book--are we going to use concordance (references to other Biblical books)or just strictly Micah? God Bless! Angel |

Angel, I was kinda thinking the sky is the limit. As long as it was a reputable source, historical, concordance, lexicon, etc... In love, Mike |

Hi, Mike! I am not seeking to complicate the study... it's just that in the past I had a few study partners that would seek to divorse the study material from the rest of the Bible... though I am not a scholar, I do believe that we can only see the total meaning of the Scriptures when viewed in the light of the complete Bible: God does not change and His Word is both eternal and transcendent... we cannot pick and choose but accept Him as He revealed Himself! God Bless! Angel |

Angel I totally agree that yoou always need to study individual portions of the Bible in the light of the rest of the Bible, however I have found sometimes some historical info can be benificial to gaining additional understanding of some scriptures, and sometimes you have to look in different books of the Bible just to gain a context for a specific scripture... Anyways, lets just do it and we can deal with issues as they arise, otheerwise we will spend a week just triing to figure out how it should be done. In other words I'm excited to dive in and and sink my teeth into some meat of the Word...... Much love Mike |
