Do you think that the 'caught up together' event in 1 Thess 4:17 is the same event as 'our gathering together to Him' event in 2 Thess 2:1, and if not, why not?

Greetings Chimney rock and welcome to the forum. I believe all of the following verses are speaking of the same event. 1 Thes. 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 2 Thes. 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 1 Cor. 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. Matthew 13:30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. Matthew 13:39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

3 | 1 Thess 4:17/2 Thess 2:1-same event? | NT general Archive 1 | chimney rock | 189672
Thanks, CBDJ. Your answer agrees with my thinking. Therefore, looking at the sequence of events in 1 Thess 2, this is talking about the "rapture" and the timing is that it will occur, not at the beginning of the so called "tribulation week" but in the middle of the 70'th week of Daniel after the 'man of sin' reveals himself at the midpoint of the week. This concurs with the 'Day of the Lord' coming at the 'great trumpet' sound prophisied by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse in Mt 24:31. |
