I can give you the alternatives postulated by various "heretical" branches of early Christianity. Adoptionists - Jesus was a righteous man adopted by God as his son to be the saviour of the world at his baptism by John therefore Jesus was fully human. Marcionites - Jesus had no human context at all. His was never born and was completely divine. His human body was only an illusion. Gnostic Seperatists - Jesus was completely human but the Christ was divine and inhabited Jesus at his baptism by John, left Jesus at his crucifiction and rejoined him at his resurrection. I placed heretical in quotes because I am in no position to pass judgement. Luke 6:37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: |

Alencon: My friend, in His command recorded in Luke 6:37, Jesus did not relieve His followers of their need and responsibility to discern right and wrong nor to oppose any doctrine that flies in the face of clear biblical truth. What Jesus did condemn in Luke 6:37 was unjust and hypocritical judging of others. The apostle Paul and other New Testament writers, writing under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, were intrepid defenders of the faith and stalwartly condemned false teachers and their messages whenever and wherever they found them. Acts 4:32 speaks of Peter and John proclaiming the word of God with boldness. In Ephesians 6:19 Paul asked the Ephesian saints to pray on his behalf that he be enabled to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel. In 2 Timothy 3:16 Paul wrote to Timothy that all Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness. And he followed up in 4:1-3 of 2 Timothy with a solemn charge to Timothy to preach the word, to be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction, for the time will come when men will not endure sound doctrine. ..... No, no, Alencon, you are not being judgmental or disobedient to our Lord's command in Luke 6:37 when you defend His gospel and oppose with boldness any teacher and any teaching that seeks to change, distort or otherwise promulgate a gospel that is antithetical to the pure gospel of Christ. --Hank | ||||||
