The latter two meanings fall into the context of the conversation that took place between the serpent and Eve, and the last meaning fits perfectly. And an Amen! to Azure. Nightmare, the line of Cain was destroyed in the Flood. Biblical genealogies are given to prove the heritage of the Promised One. The line of Adam to Seth goes to the line of Noah and his sons, who alone began the line that would lead to Messiah. That is what all the genealogies are presented for.
