Deut. 28:36-38 I Sam. 2:28-30 Job 16 These passages use the word "scorn" instead of "ridicule." I think the teaching is: People ridicule us *not* because we're unfaithful. They ridicule us because we *are* being faithful. Ridicule even comes from within the church! |

Dear Jump, I've been reading "Pilgrim's Progress" again. One of Christian's companions was named Pliable. He found the way of a Pligrim to be difficult, so he turned back. Although he joined his town in ridicule of Christian, the town also made Pliable the butt of many jokes. I suspect that ridicule and scorn might be lumped into what Paul calls malice in Ephesians 4:31-32. If the believers in ancient Ephesus were having such troubles, it should not surprise us to see it in our modern churches as well. In Him, Doc |
