1 | Does it matter if I go to church far awa | OT general | Searcher56 | 36174
jb8910, Do you live in a very rural area? 32 and 46 miles seem too far to go. Have you thought about starting a Bible study. You'll need 5-6 committed families. What about going to a church where you agree with their basic doctrine and serve the Lord there? Write your pastor, invite him to move next to you and then drive to the church. Or ask him to visit you once a week because you need him. If he says no, ask him where is his committment. Distance matters. |

hey Searcher, The miles isn't a real problem, it's the time factor. And no we're not in thatmuch of a rural area, there just aren't that many good Bible believing churches around. The last church we went to we past four churches on the way. They just weren't the type of church we could go to knowing there stand on the Bible or how they believe.Am I making sense? Some were charismatic,[nothing against that ,were just not that way],another preaches that everybody goes to heaven.Another is way to liberal.Need I say more.We used to be very involved when the kids were younger, now they're gone I've changed jobs and my job gets me home never at the same time every nite.I'm not making excuses but this is just the truth and the pastor just dosen't investigate a little bit into why your not there. I'm not mad at him, because we're now seeing that this whole thing had to be from the Lord. We're finding out that there are alot more problems int the church than just what I've told you about. I won't elaborate but really serious stuff.Things that might disqualify the pastor from being the pastor. Let me just say, my wife and I love the Lord and always want Him to be #1 in our lives before anything else.Well anyway now that I've ratteled on it's time to go.Thanks for your responce, fell free to comment.1 Cor. 15:58jb8910 |

jb8910 is your question here what God told you to do? Will you pray about how Mat 18:20 can meet your need?

tomn; I am praying about this situation,as we should pray continually anyway. But anyway ,Matt18:20 isn't a problem, but I'm no leader of people. As far as the new church is concerned, it's amazing how God is working thru the pastors sermons. So many of the questions we had about the other churches teachings are being answered.Every week I can't wait to go back. That hasn't happened in a long time. And as for 2 or 3 gathered...., we went from a church of 150 to 1200 in three services. A little bit to get used to but I love it! In Christ jb8910 |

So you mean you could be satisfied with just hearing the sermon and not being there in the church itself?

If you mean being involved,I can't be involved too much because of other commitments.Even if it was right next door it wouldn't change alot of my being there for Bible studies or other weekly programs.Sat. and Sunday are it.

I mean why not use your gas money to have them mail you a cassette tape of the service to share with your friends? Which friends are the reason you have no problem with mat18:20,I guess.
