1 | Is there a prophet in the last days? | OT general | Hank | 30721
Kid-data: The general interpretation of this passage (Malachi 4) is that God did send a prophet in the "last days" -- and his name was John the Baptist, a type of the prophet Elijah (see Luke 1:17). The term "last days" in the Bible can refer to any date between the annunciation of Jesus' birth to the second coming of our Lord Jesus. Welcome aboard! --Hank
2 | Is there a prophet in the last days? | OT general | Ray | 30797
Hi Hank, Your Luke 1:17 reference would indicate that John the baptist was a forerunner before Christ. Christ is our Prophet, Priest, and King. Elijah and John were simply prophets. When one compares Luke with Malachi 4:2 we might choose the NKJ with its capitalization. "But for you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall grow fat like stall-fed calves. You shall trample the wicked, For they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet On the day that I do this," says the Lord of hosts." Our Prophet has already come in the Person of the Messiah. This knowledge should cause us to, as the NASB says, "go forth and skip about like calves from the stall." Or, grow fat like stall-fed calves, NKJ. The evildoes will be chaff and ashes, left with no root or branch. If only they would know the Root and the Branch. Amen? Later, Ray |

3 | Two witnesses of Revelation - prophets? | OT general | Listener | 30852
I think that the two witnesses of Rev 11:3 could be prophets, some speculate that one will be Elijah. Could this also be a reference to Gentile and Jewish believers?
4 | Two witnesses of Revelation - prophets? | OT general | kalos | 30859
Please Search for your question before asking it. Many postings have been submitted and are still in the archives regarding your question. Following are some of the questions already asked: Why dose (sic) it have to be Mosses (sic) and Elijah? Are Enoch and Elijah the two witnesses? Who were the witnesses? You will find answers under these questions that range from the ridiculous to the sublime. (Actually ridiculous outnumbers sublime 10 to 1.) |

5 | Two witnesses of Revelation - prophets? | OT general | Listener | 31733
Kalos, I did search for my question before asking, that's why it was posted to a thread on the topic. I had not seen the idea that the two witnesses could be gentile and Jewish believers addressed in the thread, and was hoping for feedback on this. Thanks, Listener |

6 | Two witnesses of Revelation - prophets? | OT general | EdB | 31763
Listener Since their main audience is Jewish I think the two witnesses would have to be Jewish to be accepted. That would be someone after Abraham that had once followed Jewish tradition. However this can not be proven and we can speculate on their identity all day. I would think Elijah and Moses would probably be the most likely choice but again that is just speculation. EdB |
