Pastor Glenn: You make a good, valid point. "Through faith" modifies "we understand." It does NOT modify "the worlds were framed by the word of God." To say otherwise is to twist and distort the Scriptures to make them mean something that they don't. Whether such Scripture twisting is done deliberately or in ignorance, it is still Scripture twisting. Radioman2 |

"Whether such Scripture twisting is done deliberately or in ignorance, it is still Scripture twisting." I respectfully disagree. I see "Twisting" as a purposeful act. I must admit that I was also confused about this verse until I prayed about it after reading posts from both yourself and Graceful. May God help us all to better understand His word, as well as, each other's point of view. Remember that demonstrated love is all about doing unto others as we would have them do unto us. So, it helps to try to understand why a person believes the way they do. I want others to really see why I believe what I believe, then they can better correct me at the heart of the matter. Pastor Glenn: "To say otherwise is to twist and distort the Scriptures to make them mean something that they don't. Whether such Scripture twisting is done deliberately or in ignorance, it is still Scripture twisting." Along with you, I, too, disagree with the above sentences, which is what I wrote previously. I should have worded it as follows, which was my original thought, although I didn't yet know how to word it. What I meant to say was: "For a preacher or teacher to knowingly and deliberately say otherwise to make it fit their doctrine is to distort the Scriptures. Whether such distortion of Scripture is done deliberately or in ignorance is not for me to say in every case. Yet, I do feel that when we hear or read what teachers and preachers have to say, we need to exercise biblical discernment to know whether those things are so." I apologize if I implied that whenever a person studies the Bible for himself and makes an honest error and misunderstands or misinterprets the Bible, he is doing so knowingly and deliberately. I don't believe that at all. Humbly, Radioman2 |
