1 | Where is hell? | Rev 22:15 | pjmacaz | 237634
A recent group study brought this question. If John's vision is of the heavenly home to come, If the kingdom to come is the new Jerusalem, then is being outside described in Revelation 22:15 mean that hell is right out of the gate to heaven? Same location? This bothered me a lot. I felt in my heart NO, NO and NO. I did not have the presence of mind, to answer with clarity. Scripture clearly tells of the New heaven and Earth to come and the separation for sinners that do not accept Jesus as LORD prior to death. After getting back to the basics, and taking all scripture into account, I came to a simple answer. Outside, means outside. Not 3 feet, 3miles or 30 miles, but not "inside." An eternal separation and the door won't be open. Whatever the name, hell, Hades, shoal. It is not where Jesus will be and quite frankly that, to me, would be hell. Please expound. Thanks |

2 | Where is hell? | Rev 22:15 | EdB | 237635
First off Hell along with death is cast into the Lake of Fire Rev 20:14. We also know this earth and universe is going to be consumed with fire. 2 Pet 3:7. So there is no hell and everything else is consumed by fire. Then we see a New Heaven or Universe and New Earth being created in Rev 21:1. Then this passage Rev 22:15 which says outside is the wicked. I believe Jesus referred to this in Matthew 25:30 as the outer darkness. I think this is the same thing as Rev 22:15. Outside New Earth and the New Heavens will be an outer darkness where there will be much gnashing of teeth and weeping. |

Since most of Revalation is a cymbolic vision, Revelation 1:1 ¶The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John: signified meaning a sign of something not the actual meaning. There are many scripture that speak of Hell and Luke 16:19 speaks of Hades the pre judgement place for those going to Hell. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. why would Christ say, Matthew 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen. Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. |
