Scripture ... (vs 4) Then I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was given to them. And I saw the souls of (1) those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, (2) and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, (3) and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; ... and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. (5) The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the first resurrection" (Rev 20:4-5) God's day to you God's-elect, Do you see there are qualifications to reign with Christ for a thousand years ... and it is not all Christians? I believe it is a literial thouand years and a literial reign on earth. Also, based on this passage not all Christians will be raised at the same time. Searcher |

I mostly agree----Only those whom God chooses can reign with him. But I believe that God comes back in Judgement and to reward All his saints, not to set up a temporary earthly kingdom for a while to return a third time in Judgement. In 2 Thes. 1 verses 7 the 9 he talks of flaming fire when revealed. Then in 1 thess. 4 verse 16 I do not see a secrect return. Finally in John 6 verses 39 and 40 the last day is the resurrection. I take comfort in 2 peter 3 10 thu 13. The day of the lord where the earth is disolved and a new heaven and earth comes. Our God is mercifull to us.

God's-elect, I believe those passages you cited are the second resurrection, as opposed to the first of Revelation 20:5. Searcher

OK I respect that. What is the 2nd death spoken of here? For me I see the 1st resurection as being born again and the 2nd resurection as when God comes back to give us our glorified bodies to live forever with him. Keep the excelent dialog going as I may learn something new. Thanks. Rev. IS hard to understand.

God's-elect, I do understand your point since you do not believe in a literal 1000 years. I believe all of Scripture is literal, unless it says otherwise ... with words like "like" "as" ... The first resurection is when some Christians will come to life. The second one is for others (maybe only Christians). The second death (Rev 2:11, 20:6, 14, 21:8) are for the unbelivers. I don't think those of the first resurection are the exclusive group of those who will not experience the second death. One point is that there may be new belivers during the 1000 years. I commend you on being willing to learn. Always be wlling to learn and adjust what you believe. The issue of the resurection and rapture will only be known when it happens. I am not worried about the timing - I am glad I know where I am going. Searcher |

well said....I don't really dwell on the timing of Christ's return. I am thankfull for his mercy and grace. I do believe the resurection is the last day and judgement day, and we will know for sure when it happens. Glad to be on the correct side of such things thanks to my Lord and saviour and I look foward to that day. Now is the day of salvation.

God's-elect and Searcher, Thank you both for that exchange. It was a very good example of what my understanding of proper use of the Forum should be. Short, specific, to the point, friendly exchanges back and forth. Easy to follow and informative. Thanks again, Jeff |
