1 | Sin Not Leading To Death | 1 John 5:16 | souljourners | 178605
I sorry to say but sin is sin. It doesn't matter who is commiting it, it has the same results of any unrepented sin. In the bible there are several scirptures that imply Jews and the Gentiles. Unpardonable sin is blaspheme against the Holy Ghost and that applies to every and anyone. In the scripture you are quoting this also applies to everyone not just believers. It is up to those that do believe and are true followers of Christ to petition God for the sin of there fellow brother. This does not mean that you have to be a believer for this scripture to apply to you. The scriptures were written for the world. But God gives us free will whether or not to obey them. Saying a believer also could mean anyone. There are people who believe, but don't follow. God bless you
2 | Sin Not Leading To Death | 1 John 5:16 | kalos | 178616
Losing the respect of the one with whom you are debating 'Pride is a harmful thing. It caused the fall. It ruins marriages. It leads to anger and self-righteousness. It has no place in the Christian's life. Never admitting you are wrong is being prideful. If anyone proves you wrong in something, be kind and courteous. Admit you made a mistake and go on. Everyone makes mistakes. There is nothing wrong with admitting an error. It no more proves you are wrong about Christianity than being wrong about the color of a boat means boats don't exist. But, if you never admit when you are wrong, you will not be able to convince anyone in a discussion of your position. You will simply lose the respect of the one with whom you are debating.' I absolutely agree that no one is perfect. We all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God but the word speaks for itself. Pride is not a sin unto death unless it it is unrepented for. I Peter 5;6 says to humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. In 1 John 1:9 is says that God is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. That includes pride. Galatians 6:1 says if a man be overtaken in a fault, those that are spiritual are to restore him. But again in Mark 3:29 is the sin that the Bible says is unto unpardonable. I don't know where you're going with this conversation but I do know that in John 14:26 the Comforter which is the Holy Ghost will teach you all things, and that is my basis for the question you asked. You asked what is and unpardonable sin and I gave you the scripture. The word does not lie. Love covers a multitude of sin. And in love I close this line of conversation. Everyone is intitled to their own opinion but the word speaks for itself. God bless you and keep you. One thing I do not do is argue the scriptures or over religion. I trust God and I trust what the word says. The Holy Ghost will show us, lead us and guide us. In James 1:5 tells us those that lack in wisdom let him ask of God.
