2 | the sin that does not lead to death is ? | 1 John 5:16 | CDBJ | 136909 | ||
Greetings yondering and welcome to the forum. What translation are you using that says eternal death? 1 John 5:16 (KJV) If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. There are seven different types of death mentioned in the Bible and only one of them is eternal!! Example Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The previous verse is divided into two parts, which are antithetical; one assures eternal death the other eternal life! Into which category, would you say a brother would fit, there is no middle ground, so it is referring to physical death not eternal death; the Lord just might take him home to orientate him, if he doesn’t want to listen to reason and sound advise from a brother! Have a great day, CDBJ |

Hi yondering, The word for eternal, as used in the English language translations, comes down to us from the Koine Greek word AIONIOS. The word AIONIOS is not found in the original language of the Koine Greek verse of the book of I John 5:16. Gave a great day, CDBJ |
