Be Like Christ! Philippians 2 is one why I could point to scripture to explain my thoughts. Mainly Philippians 2:7-9. From the day I was saved the Lord has laid on my heart the importance of the cross and what He did there. From that day the reading and hearing of His word has taught me just how dependent I am on Him. Understanding these things and looking back at my own self I see just how lost and empty I was before. When I see others now I can honestly say I feel compassion for them more then anything else (Who would you say gave me compassion?) I realize I was just as blind and helpless without Him (referring to the lost). Also, when I see a brother or sister stumble I only have to look back at my self and it doesn’t take long to realize that even standing in His grace we struggle with our corrupted self. It’s a constant reminder we need Him more then I think we realize some times. So for me, it was and continues to be a humbling experience. I could not love another like I do if it was not for God Himself giving me this ability and compassion. I know this because I know who I use to be and I can see the change He has made in my life. How to increase the love? Never forget what our Lord and Saviour did on the cross and continue to look to His example! Pray that He will increase our love for one another! I do confess that Jesus Christ is Lord! God bless! Steve |

Hi Steve, Another great scripture to consider! Philippians 2 5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. The Gift God gave us is too rich to not share. And we have to remember that the needs and hurts others feel are just as strong and just as painful as the needs we feel. Knowing how much we are blessed as we are ministered to, we minister to others. Of course, our pockets are as empty as theirs, it all has to come from God. So what I hear you saying, brother, is "empathize". Feel other's needs as if they were our own. Suffer when another member of the body suffers, that we may minister to them as if it were us. I really like what you wrote about other's needs reminding us of our own. That's something I can really use. Anytime I see someone in need, I need to let that be to me a reminder that the only reason I don't see as much need in me is because I'm not looking hard enough. Thank you, my brother! I hope you have a joyous Christmas time with your family and friends! I sure appreciate your being here to share with me. Love in Christ, Mark |
