Dear PDAL, By this argument, death still reigns, for every one of us will die, should the Lord tarry. One needs to be extremely careful not to add to the Scriptures. The Word itself will give us the authority to draw analogies and types. Doing so is at the root of most errors and heresies. Furthermore, we do not draw doctrine from narrative. We draw doctrine from didactic (teaching) passages. In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc. Death only reins in the natural relm. You are born of the spirit and he who is born of the spirit is spirit. You claim to be IN HIM and I believe you are,but what part of you is in him?IT,S YOU THE SPIRIT that's in union with Christ. It's YOU THE SPIRIT that's seated with Christ in God,that is a present reality.Yes your natural body will die,but YOU THE SPIRIT WILL never die.You are a spirit, not a body.Doctrine will not give you life ,only GOD can give you life.Romans8:24 O wretched man that I am ,who will deliever me from this body of death.... Paul had all the doctrine any man could have,he counted it all as dung, because he wanted to HIM and the power of his resurection.Gal.1:12 For I neither recieved it from man,nor was I taught it,but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.Peter recieved the same thing when in th gospels Jesus asked Peter, who do you say I am?Peter said though art the Christ.Flesh and blood did not reveal that to you ,but my father who is in Heaven revealed it to you ,well done.Peter did not recieve that from any doctrine,it was a revelation from God.More than any thing we need a revelation of the person and work of Jesus Christ. Dear PDAL, Human beings were created to be living breathing beings. Drawing this distinction between spirit and body -- even worse, confusing human spirit with the Holy Spirit -- is a teaching with its roots in a heresy called gnosticism. John dealt decisively with this false doctrine in his gospel and first epistle. You wrote, "Paul had all the doctrine any man could have,he counted it all as dung..." (sic) PDAL, I don't think you understand what doctrine really is. The word doctrine means teaching. We are called to the true teaching. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his DOCTRINE: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. (Matthew 7:28-29 KJV) Jesus answered them, and said, "My DOCTRINE is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the DOCTRINE, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." (John 7:16-17 KJV) But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of DOCTRINE which was delivered you. (Romans 6:17 KJV) Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to DOCTRINE. (1 Timothy 4:13 KJV) Take heed unto thyself, and unto the DOCTRINE; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (1 Timothy 4:16 KJV) Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his DOCTRINE be not blasphemed. (1 Timothy 6:1 KJV) The gospel is about truth, PDAL (John 8:32). Faith comes by hearing the Word. The Greek is logos, where we get our English word logic. The Holy Spirit never operates outside of the Word of God (Hebrews 1:1-2). I am not sure where you are getting these strange teachings. Fortunately, "those who go astray in spirit will come to UNDERSTANDING, and those who murmur will accept INSTRUCTION" (Isaiah 29:24). The more I hear, the more I see the truth of Paul's words to Timothy, "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." (2 Timothy 4:3-4 KJV) In Him, Doc |
