1 | jesus born prior to earth? | Heb 13:8 | RElderCascade | 35460
When Jesus was born he became what He was not previously (incarnated in human flesh) and He still is what he became at the incarnation (a risen and glorified version). Is He God? Yes. Does that mean that He could be said to pre-exist? No, not as He is now after the incarnation. So is pre-existence a useful term? Not if we are talking about Jesus Christ. It is only discriptive of existing in essence as part of the Godhead. But I wouldn't use a term like pre-existence to describe any thing other than God not the incarnation.

ElderCascade, these are your exact words: "So is pre-existence a useful term? Not if we are talking about Jesus Christ." This is precisely what triggered my responses in defense of my use of the word 'pre-existence'...and I WAS talking about Jesus Christ. And it IS a perfectly good word to use in this connection, as my subsequent posts were intended to show and have shown. Now, let's drop the subject. This has been the bane of the forum, to debate an issue, any issue, to death or to make a major issue out of a minor one, even when both players in the game are on the same team, as I truly believe you and I are in this instance. Blessings and peace to you. --Hank

Thank you for quoting my post back to me. I meant to add the word 'birth' to that sentence; "Not if we are talking about the BIRTH of Jesus Christ." Sorry, that is misleading of me. Incompleteness is not fair. Does that help?
