2 | How do you remember your leaders? | Heb 13:7 | Makarios | 11649
I remember those whom I look up to, my leaders and 'mentors' in the grandest sense! I will not forget the impact that many people have had in my life, when I have felt compelled to follow or mold a little of myself after them, to see where I needed correction and where I could learn to be a better person! I remember learning early on from my special brother in the faith named Byron how one should not compete for the sake of competition, but for a worthy and Godly goal in mind! I remember learning from my dear friend Mark about loyalty and sacrifice, and realizing just how 'lukewarm' I really was in the faith back then. I remember learning from my best friend Lori how easy it would be to be tempted and fall sexually, even though we never had such intimate relations, but her and my restraint showed that a mere man or woman could defeat this temptation by walking in the Holy Spirit. She was a very beautiful woman! But she was a "leader" in a sense that she showed me to avoid any kind of sin or sexual thought that involved an 'extra-marital' relationship just by being there at that time and place in my life. And to this day, I have never been with a woman in a sexual way, keeping my integrity and chastity, unless I get married. I remember my professor at Indiana Wesleyan who was a Godly man and archaeologist! He showed me many things about the Bible and was a hero for me in that he had success in spreading His Word! My friend Ron was a leader that showed me courage by going into China and distributing the Gospel message to all that received it! The inmates at the jail that I visit constantly show me a hope (and are 'leaders' in a sense) that they will be redeemed one day for all of their transgressions. And my friends here on the Forum continue to provide a 'beacon' of faith and light, showing me that I am not alone in my faith in Christ! Nolan |

Nolan I commend you and Lori. Kiss is not just a kiss. Maintain brother, as I did until I was married at 37. Looky (not lusting) talky (edifying words) and no touchy. I added the parens, the saying is from my dad. I remember good and bad leaders. I hope that people see me live my faith as you. |

4 | How do you remember your leaders? | Heb 13:7 | Makarios | 11953
Thank you, Steve! No, nothing happened between us that should not have happened, praise the Lord! I continually praise Him for watching over me! Only by His providence has He kept me chaste in the area of sexual temptation. He has also kept me from ever smoking a cigarette and protected me from abusing the drinking of alcoholic beverages! To this day, I can honestly say that I have no idea what a "hangover" is.. Praise the Lord! Blessings! Nolan |
