1 | How much longer must we wait, Lord? | Heb 10:37 | Glory Bound | 129675 | ||
I know that this is a Bible study forum, and my question may be out of line, but it is biblical and I would sincerely like to generate a topic of discussion concerning the following. 1) I know it has been said for generations past, and that no man knows that hour, but, and I pose this question only to the scriptural learned; Can the second coming of our Savior not be far off considering the state of affairs in this world today? i.e. the Jewish exodus from France back to their homeland, - thousands daily, due to persecution; The state of near apostasy in this very country, i.e. the removal of centuries old bibles in the front of court houses, and the removal of Judges from the bench for refusing to order the removal of the Ten Commandments from public view, etc etc etc??? 2) Does any scripturally learned Christian actually believe they can justify voting Democratic? Oh I know there are many who call themselves Christians who do, and they can blab a good defense without quoting a single biblical passage. Thanks for your scripturally founded thoughts. GB |

Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Things do seem bad, but I haven't quite seen it as bad as is described in this passage. There are still some teachers who are instructing people on rightly dividing the Word. There are still some churches that seek Him first. There are still some believers who hunger and thirst after righteousness. Christianity is not about politics. The world will do what it will do. We should vote on issues and candidates with great care (and lots of prayer), for in so doing we are yeilding unto Caesar what is Caesars and, at the same time, yielding unto God what is God's. (Frankly, I'm so conservative I have a hard time making left hand turns... but I think pushing that in this forum would not be respectful to those who have provided us this venue. Let's leap to defend the truth that is eternal. Politics is quite temporal.) |

Thank you my friend. Actually, considering your "left hand turn statement," I can't help but to think that I may be talking to Rush Limbaugh. Ha.. It seems everything, everyone and every frame of mind has a label this day and time. Listening to Rush is how I realized that I am a conservative. Yet and though, just as I do not claim to be republican or democrat, though I do lean to the republican mindset, I don't claim to be a conservative either. Not in the general sense anyway, for I have noted that both conservatives and liberals today are either Ultra conservative or Ultra liberal. There is no middle ground. I think there is a middle ground. I also think that there are times when one needs to go in the other direction, but most who consider themselves either conservative or liberal, hate the other direction so bad that even when they know it's right, they refuse to go that way. Why? I think it is human nature. I call it bull headedness. Look at scriptures depiction of the Jewish people. Look at the people today who refuse to accept what scripture states. It's their way or no way. I think labels are a sort of segregation, and are very bigoted. Perhaps they are necessary to a degree, i.e. Christian and sinner, yet I believe that bigotry against SIN, (not the sinner) is the only bigotry God accepts. GB |
