1 | Do I have to go to worship/church? | Heb 10:25 | rhcrider | 177213
Do I have to go to worship/church? I do believe and have been baptized, but I have alot of inner turmoil problems with most organized religions. I read my bible, pray, I help those who need help when I can (this I consider my offering). My problem with Organized religion is this, almost all wars have been fought in the name of religion or religious beliefs. The middle east is a complete mess because of this. The maze of organized religion in the US can make your head spin. I have basically chosen to study and pray on my own. Which religion/church/temple is the proper religion, and who do you believe. I know this is touched on in Book of John, and various other Books throughout the Bible, but these books were written when times where simpler and society was not as complicated as it is today. So in trying to get through the fog, I am sure I am creating more questions by even asking this question. Thank you for your considerations in advance. Rob
2 | Do I have to go to worship/church? | Heb 10:25 | srbaegon | 177214
Hello Rob, Heb 10:24-25 (ESV) And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, [25] not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. The short answer is: Yes, you have to meet together with other believers. The very definition of the word translated "church" is to be called out and called together. You can't be called together when you are alone. You can't disciple or be discipled when you are alone. You can't function within and as part of a body (1 Cor 12) when you are alone. Things were not simpler when the New Testament was being written. In many ways, conditions are just now becoming as bad as 1st century Rome--homosexuality was practiced and promoted by the rulers; paganism was rampant; gladiators fought each other for the enjoyment of others (currently televised as Extreme or Ultimate Fighting).
