1 | God always gets what he desires? T or F | 1 Tim 2:3 | CDBJ | 213138
Hi Norton, I didn’t realize that you wanted to include verse 4 into the parameter and that is where I got hung up. 1 Tim. 2:3-4 This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. The word from which we get the word “desire” in the NASB is translated from the Koine Greek word THELO or the actual form used which is THELEI. Here is the definition as founds in, (Strong’s Greek and Hebrew Dictionary) thelo, Greek 2309, Strong’s thelo, thel'-o; or ethelo, eth-el'-o; in certain tenses theleo, thel-eh'-o; and etheleo, eth-el-eh'-o, which are otherwise obsolete; apparently strengthened from the altnate form of Greek 138 (haireomai); to determine (as an active option from subjective impulse; whereas Greek 1014 (boulomai) properly denotes rather a passive acquiescence in objective considerations), i.e., choose or prefer (literal or figurative); by implication to wish, i.e. be inclined to (sometimes adverbially gladly); impersonally for the future tense, to be about to; by Hebrew to delight in :- desire, be disposed (forward), intend, list, love, mean, please, have rather, (be) will (have, -ling, -ling [ly]). The thought, that is carried by Paul, in 1 Tim. 2:3,4 is also brought out by Peter in the following verse. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance. Repentance is the key here which represents a turning away from the direction one has been going and turning to God’s Son Jesus Christ with and undivided faith in what Jesus has accomplished on the cross for man’s salvation. Have you come to this place yet in your experience with the Saviour or is this something that you are still working on? Sorry about the mix up, CDBJ |

2 | God always gets what he desires? T or F | 1 Tim 2:3 | Norton | 213149
Hi CDBJ, Thank you for you time. I read it with interest. I believe Jesus is my saviour and my faith is a work in progress. I am 61 and have been told many times sometime I think out of the box. Maybe thats not always bad. Sometime I feel that Jesus is so Great that He would not let go of any of His worldly flock. Could He of course is not the issue. Once again I am only inviting discussion. God be with you
3 | God always gets what he desires? T or F | 1 Tim 2:3 | CDBJ | 213167
Greetings Norton, I’ve got you by 10 years so I guess we are both still kids compared to Abraham. My favorite group of verses in the whole Bible is found in the following book of 1st John. 1 John 5:10-13 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 13These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. Now there is something that we can take to the bank because God promised it! The word believe in the English doesn’t convey the full intent of what the Greek word, PISTEUO, meant in the original language of the New Testament. It meant to put all of one’s trust in who Jesus is, being the one sent from God, the Messiah or Christ, to save all those that would fully trust and rely on the work God performed through His Son. And God’s mercy in action does it for us when we trust in The Son. Ephes. 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. The only thing we can boast about is God’s Grace and His fantastic gift of salvation, and He is the one that gets all of the credit! Here is a great verse that shows us that God Himself accomplished the work. Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, (NOTICE ) which he hath purchased with his own blood. I sure hope you enjoy the forum, CDBJ |

Rom 11:32 There are also many other verses where Paul says that every man shall gain good from the sacrifice of Jesus. I believe that God can save all men and fix those who were born disabled or handicapped. |

I wanted to include the vers/es i was talking about. Rom 5:18-19 Those who want other people to perish are just mean in their hearts. You have to forgive all men so that you are righteous when facing your creator. |
