While Scripture was written at a time when the majority of women were considered low, and even personal property, which we do not consider this now. Does this change what the Bible says about the role of women in the church? I recently reposted an old post (127994) on this subject? | ||||||

The women were "out of control" in the church at the time of this writing, were they not? I do not believe it had anything to do with the way women, in general, were considered. I believe it was because, in particlar, the women in the church were "carrying on" so to speak. Am I wrong? | ||||||

Dear Joy, The principles of Scripture are transcultural. To let cultural considerations dictate interpretation is a slippery slope! The Scriptures exist for believers in all time, which is the work of the Holy Spirit. Furthermore, if women were "carrying on" back then, I doubt we've grown out of the problem.
