Word Study ... Gune (Strong's 1135), Aner (435) ... In the NAS Gune is translated wife 84 times and woman 130 times. Aner is translated husband 52 times and man 144 times. ... so it could be either. Looking at the context, I think about another passage (1 Cor 11:3-12), where husband and wife do not always fit. I think husband and wife also do not fit here ... but, translators have a choice. |
