1 | Is God hand so short that he cannot lead | Col 2:21 | tj57h@cs.com | 88877 | ||
Sirs, It was contained on my posting; Religion has innocent believers going about doing works, with little thought of ceasing from our own works and submitting to God and learning to walk in the Spirit. I am curious of several things, #1. Why when I say almost the same thing as Tim Sheasby I get this type of comment, EdB and he gets positive supportive comments? #2. Why when it is customary to provide scriptural basis for our comments on this forum, very few people who respond to my postings do so? #3. Do you gentlemen belong to a denomination that does not practice works based doctrines OR actually teaches walking in the Spirit? #4. John my definition of a religious COW would be items that traditionally religious folks would hold as important foundational doctrines, which are not based in truth or is in direct opposition to it. #5. Who hasn’t been hurt by traditional religious doctrines or people who practice it? I know of no one that hasn’t been hindered in the walk by men's commandments, traditions and doctrines. #6. If you have some Spiritual insight you would like to share, supported by some scripture I would like to discuss it. #7 Meanwhile I believe the Church and its leadership needs to step up grow up and start preaching the truth. #8 I did ask a question, do you have an answer? Why do Christian denominations practice " do not do this, do not do that, wear this don't wear that" When the bible clearly teaches not to? I believe it is because of control, pride, ignorance (Due to traditions handed down from leadership, instead of studying the bible for themselves.), and fear. Love, Tim |

Tim 1 If you will look Tim Sheasby isn't around much anymore and I wasn't addressing him. Your over all tone is very negative. 2 I haven't responded to your question other than ask how you were hurt. 3 The doctrine of the denomination I belong to is very much Spirit lead. 4 I'm not sure what cows your talking about but most denominations do call for holiness. I know holiness is something most people buck. However the word does say without holiness we will not see God. 5 I'm not sure who has been hurt and who hasn't but this I know you have and I would like to discuss it with you. 6 My Spiritual insight is nothing more than knowing when someone is striking out in anger over a hurt they have received. 7 In Proverbs it says a sweet reply is received while a sour one isn't. The scripture also says make sure you remove the beam from your eye before you attempt to remove the speck from your brothers. It further says we are not to judge another man's slave. 8 I think you generalise when you says denominations, say do this and don't do this and such. I know most denominations now speak only of dressing modestly. There are some that have clothes line preaching but they are fewer and fewer. I also know God honors those that honor Him, I know many men and women that dressed under dress codes you would disagree with and they were honored for it by God. Tim you talk of a conspiracy of learned men that have corrupted the word just so they could retain power. Do you really think such church leaders as John MacArthur, Jack Hayford, Tony Evans, Joe Stowell, Erwin Lutzer, Norman Geisler, Ravi Zachariah, Billy Graham, Josh MacDowell, Irwin Kroll, Meyer Prealman, Stanley Horton, David Jeremiah and many others have never read the Bible for themselves and are merely influenced by what others have previously taught? Or do you think these men are so corrupt that would purposely corrupt God's word to deceive others? Again Tim I'm not trying to upset you. I just see a lot of hurt here and I want to know if I can help. EdB |

EdB, Praise God for your somewhat positive words. Point # 7 I is alright to judge me, because I will listen. # 8 I believe your experience in Churches has been a little naive. When people do it and condemn others who don't it is SIN. # 4. The religious Cows I am talking about are those who have infiltrated our ranks and have enlivened the simple Gospel of liberty in Christ into WORKS based Traditional Religion. Paul spoke very strong and negative about those who do such things. Read Galatians 1 and 2. But that was OK for Paul. I know it's OK to Judge me, like I said I will listen. As far as the men you have listed there is about two to three times as many as you have listed and many of them are walking a very good walk and testimony before our lord. I am talking about the trenches out here in cornfield county were perhaps you have not come to see it, WORKS based traditional religion is practiced and baby Christians galore are backsliding into oblivion because they don't know the truth. Salvation is by Faith Righteousness is by Faith. Romans 4. Romans 6. Paul’s TONE was very negative in Galatians 1 and 2. He said Let him be accursed. I have accursed no one. Just stated the facts about Works based religion. i heard you earlier word and as usual The Lord Jesus Christ will lead me to be free from any bitterness and negativity that you perceive that I have. Others on this forum have given me encouraging words about what I have written. I think also you might be naive about this problem in the Church and the negative impact it has on the people of God especially the little ones. In Love, Tim |

Tim, I do agree that there is a problem; whether in cornfield country (where I have never been) or in the bible belt (where I currently reside), the Church has become self-righteous akin to the Sadducees and the Pharisees. Many denominations have formed because someone did not agree with the CUSTOMS of the dominant denomination in their particular area as opposed to the DOCTRINE e.g. Catholics from the early Church; Protestants from Catholics; Baptist from Presbyterian; etc. On down to today, the myriad of denominations mainly exist because of some disagreement on customs (the Sadducees and Pharisees were separated on points of doctrine). The sad part of it all is that Jesus taught against division. The body is to be united, however, many churches can not see beyond their insignificant differences (any difference based on a custom is slight) in order to come together for the sake of building the Kingdom of God. It is a reflection or maybe the cause of what is wrong with this country (racism) and the world (nationalism). The irony of it all, Edb, is that EVERYBODY thinks that they are right because this guy or that guy believes the same thing or because they went to this seminary or that seminary and this is what they were taught (indoctrination). Clearly in Paul's day there were already false teachings and teachers. How much more so do you think there are today? The Adversary is smarter than ANYBODY. He knows how to manipulate a situation so that the focus of those on the Way is shifted from the finish line to golden apples along the wayside. (Yes this is a reference to Greek mythology but it is not the focus here). Many people teach for their own glory-the glory that comes when people follow what they say; therefore they "teach" about things which they do not know and substitute speculation for truth. Look at many of the postings on this website and consider the debates spawned from questions which no man can answer. What it all boils down to is that people will do whatever they want and use anything to justify it. Sadly, this is practiced by the Church of Today. Peace be unto you in the name of Jesus |
