1 | is jesus god? | Col 1:18 | Bill Richardson | 231017 | ||
In addition to your scriptures as cited, I can only think to add these in an attempt to complete the picture: Jn 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. 32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.” Jn 17:20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; 21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. 22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: 23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. All of this leads us to the conclusion that there really is a concept known as the Trinity. No, the word itself is not in the Bible but the picture certainly is. All Three of the Godhead, God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are all in Perfect Unity. BUT they're also three distinct Beings as shown in... Lk 3:22 And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, “You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.” No we can't understand this Perfect Oneness yet in three distinct Beings; we just have to accept it. So in answer to your question, yes indeed, Jesus most certainly was then, still is and always will be God. Go with God in all things, Bill |

I should rephrase my question. Do you believe that Jesus is the Father in the flesh? I do. I believe that God is the head,brain and life of His body of believers and His name is Jesus Christ. I think it was in this way that mankind was created in the image of God. I think that we are merely small intelligent cells/parts of His body. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)I'm not oneness or pentacostal. These are just things that I discovered when I went through the Bible and sought God first--as He says to do, but people keep labeling me as oneness and I had never even heard the word before.(Maybe I am oneness) So I'm curious as to how many out there see that He IS the father, son and holy spirit as ONE being and not three in one. We don't have three heads and I don't see God with three either. I see where He concealed the truth except to those who knew Him and would realize the truth. I see Him as the Head, brain and life with us as small intelligent cells of His body. Does anyone else see this? I can understand your difficulty; there are many people that believe as you do. But the ultimate conclusion, at least in my mind must agree with the whole Bible, as Paul preached in... Acts 20:17 From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called for the elders of the church. 18 And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, 19 serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; 20 how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, 21 testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 27 For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God. So how does one rationalize all the scriptures you've cited with the ones I provided in my previous post? Yes a very challenging question indeed. One last bit of scripture and I'll hush. 1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. Go with God in all things, trust Him, keep studying and He'll Bless you with the Answer. Bill |

IF God the Father has been in all of us since the beginning--has heard our prayers and counted the hairs on our heads--then how could we have not been looking into the eyes of the Father when we looked into the eyes of Christ? Where would the Father have been? I believe god to be in me and the light of me--I call Him Y'shua.(Jesus) 2 Corinthians 6:16--Philippians 2:13--Acts 17:25-28--John 17:21-26--John 16:15 What would Hidden Wisdom be then? 1 Corinthians 2:7-8--1 Corinthians 1:21--Mark 4:11-12--Romans 3:11--Matthew 13:11-16--Luke 10:22 |

Hello Sheila, I'm not sure what you mean by saying, "IF God the Father has been in all of us since the beginning..?" To me this hints of Pantheism? God has not been "in us since the beginning", but is eternal, having always existed in the unity of His nature. "In the beginning God..." (Gen. 1:1) God is one as Deut. 6:4 tells us, "The LORD is our God, the LORD is one", yet Triune in his nature. There are three persons in scripture all called God; God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, yet only one God. The Orthodox definition would be: One God who eternally exists in three different persons- the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit- all of whom are fully God,all of whom are equal. Because of God's Triune nature, this is why Christ could exclaim in John 14:9, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father'?" He (Jesus) truly is Emmanuel (God with us), the God/man. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
