1 | Is Jesus "equal to god"? | Phil 2:6 | Aslans_Friend | 186751
The history of the Watchtower Society starts with a group called Russellites, who followed a false prophet of the day (19th century) who proclaimed the end of the world was scheduled for early 20th century. A publisher in New York City found he could make a lot of money from the followers and, through a greedy plot, conspired to organize the society into a religious works mill. Adherants must work to earn salvation through quotas and distribution of written materials. At first, they used the King James bible, but now have their own authorized translation that twists the original Hebrew and Greek to their own advantage. |

Thank you for the note. I did in fact go about investigating where the Watchtower Bible comes from and who wrote it. What I found out was that the Watchtower Bible was translated by "anonimous" authors and their magazines are written by anonimous authors also. I know from experience that any writings by an anonimous author cannot be trusted as a reliable source, especially a source for spiritual guidance. I am getting information on Russell who was the leader. I want to know where he comes from and what his background is.

Hi, Abeck... Although he has passed on, a great source of information is Dr. Walter Martin. He wrote the book "Kingdom of the Cults" a valuable resource. http://www.waltermartin.org/cults.html In Him, Doc |
