1 | What sort of oil? | Deut 33:24 | mark d seyler | 158108
Wilma, You talk about the Israelites being put out of their land. This was prophesied in many places, going back to Moses. You talk about the temple being destroyed. This too was prophesied as the result of Israel's disobedience. But listen to what the LORD said through the prophet Jeremiah: Jeremiah 31:37 "Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD." "the seed of Israel" - the literal genetic descendants of Israel. And where are they today? Back in the land, with more coming back all the time, as prophesied (Eze. 36-37 among others). You speak of their disobedience. Chuck Missler was the first I heard to point out that the Bible anticipates every false teaching, and this is where it anticipates the teaching that Israel could be rejected, and no longer God's chosen, because of their disobedience: "then will I cast off Israel for all that they have done." Have you seen the center of the earth? Can you give me the measurement of the universe? If you can answer both of those questions with a "yes", as well as meeting the additional qualifications in Jer. 31:36, then, and only then, will I accept that God has "unchosen", cast off, the children of Israel. Yes, the temple has been thrown down. But not God's chosen people Israel. Love in Christ, Mark |

Are you suggesting that every Jew is guaranteed salvation? The only such guarantee that I am aware of is for Christians that endure to the end.(Matt 24:13; Rev 2:10) I'm sure you're not saying that eventually all Jews will end up in Israel in order for Jeremiah's words to be true. We need to realize the impartiality of God as didPeter: "I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right." (Acts 10:34-35) All of Adam's sinful descendents have the same possibility as well as the same requirements to receive it. I refuse to believe that God is less just than that and I believe history recorded in the Bible supports God's justice. |

Wilma, Regarding the salvation of Israel: Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. 26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: 27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Zec 13:8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein. 9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God. Mat 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Zec 12:9 And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. "And so all Israel shall be saved" Regarding Israel's status before God: Gen 12:3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Jer 31:35 Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name: 36 If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever. The sun and moon and stars still shine, the waves are crashing on the shore, but they stop there. Israel is a nation before God. Love in Christ, Mark |

4 | What sort of oil? | Deut 33:24 | wilmap | 158176
Mark: You and I were created in the image of God. I take that to mean we share in his fine fine qualities - love, justice, mercy, loyalty, for example. Now if you had 2 children that you promised a new bicycle, how do you think they would feel if you just put the one on the new bike and said "here you go," while to the other you said "you'll get your's when you do the following . . ." (This is also how I get people to thing about the misconception that life is a test by God and if we pass it, we get to go to heaven. After all, why didn't the angels have to undergo such a test?) Now if we, in our sinful state, know this is outrageously unjust, surely God will not perpetrate such a travesty! (Deut 32:4) From my perspective, the Scriptures you cite can be understood to not contradict this fact, but only when harmonized with the ones I've cited. Sincerely, Wilma |
