1 | Did Jesus become sin and did He descend | 2 Cor 5:21 | tgsmom | 31047
I have heard this topic preached but do not know the references in the Bible. My question is Did Jesus become sin on the Cross and did Jesus descend into hell to preach during the 3 days? I guess that's two questions. Help! |

2 | Did Jesus become sin and did He descend | 2 Cor 5:21 | kalos | 31048
Jesus did not become a sinner (as some suggest). 2 Cor 5:21 "'sin for us.' God the Father, using the principle of imputation, treated Christ as if He were a sinner though He was not, and had Him die as a substitute to pay the penalty for the sins of those who believe in Him. On the cross, He did not become a sinner (as some suggest), but remained as holy as ever. He was treated as if He were guilty of all the sins ever committed by all who would ever believe, though He committed none. The wrath of God was exhausted on Him and the just requirement of God's law met for those for whom He died." (p. 1772, MacArthur Study Bible, Word Publishing, 1997) |

3 | Did Jesus become sin and did He descend | 2 Cor 5:21 | NWord | 83505
I agree with kalos. Jesus became sin, but he never commited any sin, so he could not have become a sinner. He was the holy spotless son of the living God who TOOK upon himself OUR sin to set us free. He had no sin of his own. He never sinned once in the time he was here. The wrath of God was taken out on him until we were declared rightous and then He was set free, and rose from the dead. NWord |
