I was just wondering about Cor 7:15.When it mentions the term "departs" does that mean spiritually or physically(or both!). If we give ourselves to the Lord in full and its more than our spouses are willing to give themselves, is that considered one 'departing' from the other.I mean if we are married to an unbeliever and if we have to compromise our faith are we not in sin.Is it a question of whats more important, following the Lord or compromising to keep a marriage in peace? Or is it more important to follow the Lord whole heartedly (whatever the cost may be), and then if he or she is still willing to live with the believer 'Cor 7:12-13' maybe they do have a deep need for the Lord after all. Or maybe they won't. 'cor 7:16'. The Lord knows. P.S. May God bless all marriages. They are the root of any strong nation. |

Depart as i have studied it means physically. the greek word is used 12 times in the NT, two are in Matt and mark when it takes about marriage and says let no man put asunder which is the same translated depart in other instances. 3 times in Acts it is talking about physcially leaving a place. in Rom is talks about separating from the love of God or away from him. until i started to answer this, i didnt realize i am new here just joined last night it was part of an answer. WWW i know it must be difficult but i join another answer that says seek counsel. I DO NOT THINK DIVORCE IS THE UNPARDONABLE SIN. however, i believe we need to take it very seriously. seek God, pray for you husband and how him the love of God. my thoughts and prayers are with you |
