1 | who should speak in tounges? | 1 Cor 14:22 | Aspiring Overseer | 96413 | ||
Tongues were one of the miraculous signs that were given to confirm the spoken word was from God. As Christians in the first century received the knowledge of God miraculously, they already understood the master plan of God and were able to judge the spoken and written word by that standard. Pagans could not, so God gave the temporary gift of tongues so that a pagan could hear the word in their own language and, realize that the event was miraculous and must therefore be the truth. Once the perfect came, the miraculous was no longer needed or desired by God. It was then the believer's duty to study the written Word so they would accurately handle the truth and so prove their understanding. AO |

Satan is your answer, but let me explain. Assertions do not prove anything. Just because many people assert they speak in tongues does not mean they actually do. People do strange things, usually without reason, and that is why we have adages like, "Common sense is uncommon". That is also why Christ stated that few would find salvation. It is unfortunate, but most people do not follow reason, but emotion. The promise of tongues is one such example. Matt 7:13-14 13"Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide, and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and many are those who enter by it. 14"For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and few are those who find it. Satan?!?!!? Remember when Jesus was accused of getting his power from bezabub (sp?) what was the next thing He said? Becareful friend, on where you say the gifts of the Holy Spirit comes from. I will tell you right now I have the Gift of tongues. and I know very well where it comes from. And I give credit to where the Bible tells me to. It is a Gift of the Holy Spirit. This is because I care Never say a gift that is clearly in the scripture that comes from the Holy Spirit comes from satan. I believe if people do that and don't repent they are making a grave mistake. Hince the belzbub thing. If you don't want to believe in the gifts then don't but to say they come from Satan? |

Mark 3:20-30 20And He came home, and the multitude gathered again, to such an extent that they could not even eat a meal. 21And when His own people heard of this, they went out to take custody of Him; for they were saying, "He has lost His senses." 22And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons." 23And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan? 24"And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25"And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26"And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished! 27"But no one can enter the strong man's house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house. 28"Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter; 29but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin "-- 30because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit." NAS Speaking against tongues in the first century is one thing, but in the 21st century we have a totally different matter. Remember that a kingdom divided against itself can not stand. A person can not have it both ways and expect they are in the proper kingdom. AO |
