My friend 1 time told me about something to do with christians called gnostic. It's where you pray to God every day to send someone called your divine mother, and the week or however long you have to pray, youy can't have 1 bad thought, or any 1 sin. Has anyone heard of it?

Gnostics believe in God as a spirit and Jesus Christ was a man who died who had the Christ spirit on him. Gnostics believe that when Jesus died the Christ spirit left him and went to other persons including Mohammed, Buddha, even gurus and many other spiritual leaders. True Christians know that Jesus Christ is the one and only true "light of the world." Jesus rose from the dead and will indwell you through the Holy Spirit if you ask Him to come into your life, confessing your need for a Savior from your sins and acknowledging His death on the cross for you. Accept His love! For strength against temptation we pray to God the Father through His son Jesus Christ and rely on His Holy Spirit (not a divine mother). By accepting Jesus' death on the cross for us, we have benefited from His crucifixion and therefore also His resurrected life. Romnas 6:6-7 "..knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we woud no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is freed from sin." Our old self has no power over us to sin as we continually remind ourselves by faith, that the sinful self was nailed to the cross and we are now slaves to righteousness. Some have said that we must remember Romans 6:11 "Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus." By faith we see ourselves as dead to sin even but alive to do the things of God. |

is it possible to believe in God as your holy ruler, and know that Jesus died on the cross for you, but still be a gnostic? Because I've also heard that gnostics have small divine powers.

What small divine powers are your referring to? A true Christian will only have spiritual enablement that comes from Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. |

Don't deceived by those with spiritual powers which are NOT from Jesus Christ. Leviticus 19:31 "Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the Lord your God." Deuteronomy 18:9-12 "When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the detestable things of those nations. There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices withchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell or a medium , or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. For whoever does these things is detestable to the Lord an because of these detestable things..." The glory of God does not necessarily come from signs and wonders but manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Our Christian focus should be on the new life in Christ" Galatians 519-25. "..now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immoorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes dissnesionsl factions envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such tings will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another." |
