1 | Melchisedec restored tithing | Rom 4:3 | Bereaniam | 171845
Thanks BradK, He used Heb 7:12 as his proof text, which states that the priesthood had changed , therefore a necessity to change the law. This very scripture is one that I use to refute that tithing is under this present grace period. This preacher said the law changed but was not abolished. His sermon was very confusing (he was a guest preacher at our church). If Heb 7:12 says that tithing was restored...I don't see where he thought it ever ceased from the Mosaic Law. Bereaniam |

2 | Melchisedec restored tithing | Rom 4:3 | BradK | 171852
Hi Bereaniam, I think the main challenge is in neglecting context! I believe the Hebrews passage is dealing with the superiority of Melchizedek and in verse 12, the imperfection af the Aaronic Priesthood. Additionally, is Heb. 7:12 being prescriptive or descriptive? These will drive one's interpretation and exegesis. I think Heb. 10:1 refutes your guest preachers' point:-) Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
