1 | Do Jews and others go to heaven? | Rom 4:1 | lalegend | 31167
I am new to having a relationship with Jesus, although I was raised a Catholic thru Catholic church/school, and didn't pay much attention. I listen to alot of radio christian stations: They say "Only way to heaven is thru Jesus Christ". My question, what about people who died before Jesus' time, jewish faith and people who believe in God; but not Jesus. Are they saying, only people in heaven will be people who died since Jesus died, and born again Christians. Thanks Mike |

2 | Do Jews and others go to heaven? | Rom 4:1 | Emmaus | 31168
Mike, Welcome to the forum. The New Testament speaks of Old Testament saints who were saved by obedient faith in God. Abraham is the prime example spoken of in Romans 4 and James 2:21-26. So we know the Old Testament faithful were saved by faith in the promised Messiah. Here is little section of the catechism you may have missed when you weren't paying attention: "Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience - those too may achieve eternal salvation.[337] 848 "Although in ways known to himself God can lead those who, through no fault of their own, are ignorant of the Gospel, to that faith without which it is impossible to please him, the Church still has the obligation and also the sacred right to evangelize all men."[338] Others on the forum may have different opinions. I also am new to the forum, and I'm wondering who answers the questions? Is it anyone registered to the forum, or someone associated with the World Bible Study website - someone who has been to seminary? A Catholic? A born again Christian? I grew up Catholic and I know now that much of what I was taught during 12 yrs of Catholic schooling was not biblical. I hope to learn the truth based on God's Word, and not Catholic doctrine. Please know that I intend no disrespect. Thanks. Elaine
