Interesting thoughts, Brother CDBJ! Your comments made me mindful of the words of Thomas Watson. He wrote, "Some have asked whether we shall know one another in heaven? Surely, our knowledge will not be diminished, but increased. The judgment of Luther and Anselm, and many other divines is, that we shall know one another; yea, the saints of all ages, whose faces we never saw; and, when we shall see the saints in glory without their infirmities of pride and passion, it will be a glorious sight." What they are suggesting is similar to what you're saying. (If I rightly remember the works Watson is citing.) They speak of an enhanced understanding. The idea is that after the full, deleterious effects of the Fall are removed, and the full benefits of our glorification are fully realized, the believer's cognitive abilities will be unimaginably superior to what we experience now. Although we can't speak particularly about these things now -- lacking even the language to discuss it, let alone the ability to imagine it (Isaiah 64:4; 1 Corinthians 2:9) -- glory is going to be incredible. Best of all, though, the object of our devotion, our Lord, will be there! In Him, Doc |

Hi Doc, Many that we communicate with, we know only by name, but that will be enough when we receive our resurrection bodies. 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 Cor. 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 1 Cor. 13:12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. You know me as, and your memory will be intact; have a great Thanksgiving, CDBJ |
