1 | Word of Christ? | Rom 10:17 | DocTrinsograce | 151452
Dear Dr. Aixen, Because of the following verses, we may deem Christ as the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2) God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son... (Hebrews 1:1-2a) When Christ spoke it was the Word of God: So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God... (Luke 5:1a) The word spoken by Christ are the words by which men will be judged: "He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day." (John 12:48) His words are also eternal life: And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. (Acts 13:48) It is the means of our justification: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life." (John 5:24) It is also that which "cleans" us "You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you." (John 15:3) By it our discipleship is affirmed: Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed." (John 8:31) (See also John 8:37, 43 and Rev 3:8) It is the means by which we demonstate our love: Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him." (John 14:23) It is the means by which we bring glory to God: "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples." (John 15:7-8) The words of Christ offer the believer comfort, encouragement, hope, and wisdom. They are the very words of life! In Him, Doc |

2 | Word of Christ? | Rom 10:17 | Aixen7z4 | 151458
Christ is the Word of God (John 1, Revelation 19:13, etc.). That, like everything else that you have said, is true. It is fully documented with scripture. What then is the word of Christ? Shall we say that the word of Christ is the word of the Word of God? I fear that we are making an obfuscation out of a simple statement, though profound. The word of Christ is the word of God. He did not speak by himself; but the Father which sent him, he gave him a commandment, what he should say, and what he should speak (John 12:49). He gave them the words which the Father had given him (John 17:8). Any way you look at it, the word of Christ is the word of God. There are a thousand things we can say about the word of Christ, what it is like and what it does. But there is no difficulty in understanding what it is. The word of Christ is the word of God. |
