Scripture ... Acts 8:26-40 ... lialia1212, While there may of been a need to teach more, we do not know why God spirited Philip away, except that his mission was done there and his next mission was in Azotus right away. The eunuch's mission was to go home. Searcher |

3 | angel or Spirit? | Acts 8:39 | Ray | 52693
Hi lialia 1212 and Searcher 56, I wanted to ask the forum if they capitalized the Spirit in Acts 8:39. Let me use your comments to show why I ask. Lialia says,"Why Lord caught away Philip?" And Searcher says "we do not know why God spirited Philip away." So my question is, "Is it the Lord or is it the angel who snatched Philip away?" Based on Acts 8:26 and 29, I believe that that the angel is involved. Thus, I would go more with the idea that God spirited him away. Other passages to consider would be the seven occurrances of Spirit (or,spirit) lifting up in the book of Ezekiel. Ezekiel 3:12, 14; 8:3; 11:1, 24, 24; 43:5. What do you think? From the heart, Ray |

4 | angel or Spirit? | Acts 8:39 | Searcher56 | 52712
God could of used an angel. Good point.
5 | angel or Spirit? | Acts 8:39 | Ray | 52752
Hi Searcher, If God used the available angel at hand, do you agree that angel, spirit, and spirit would be appropriate for verses 26,29, and 39? For although angels are heavenly beings they are not Deity, and I would not capitalize them. This lower case is necessary to distinguish between angels from the Angel of the Lord, the Lord Himself. Would you care to comment on your case choice for the book of Ezekiel? Or how about Revelation's three occurances of the "seven Spirits"? Revelation 1:4; 3:1, and 5:6? From the heart, Ray |
