1 | Saved? | Acts 4:12 | JesussFriend | 54520
Just because someone attends there local church every week does not make them saved, does it?The same with a person that is baptized in JESUS's name. Many of us confess that we indeed know our Lord because we confessed, other say I not only confessed I was baptized in water in Jesus's sweet name.Does all this really save your Spirit? One guy once said,"I been baptized and boy did i speak in tongues,I just know I'am saved!".It is all scripture to confess,be baptized and holy ghost filled,But this alone does not save me are anyone else.Jesus saidn"Ye shyall know them by their fruits."Matt.7:16"To find the Fruits of the Spirit working in your life Paul tells us we are In the Spirit.I ask my-self,Am I walking in the Spirit?I can'nt fool my self are my Lord.I must indeed have the fruits of the Spirit and not eat of the table of devils, for you can only eat of one table.1st (Cor.10:21)
2 | Saved? | Acts 4:12 | Robert Nicholson | 54521
Jesusfriend: You have pointed out a very important truth: that our soul's salvation if found in Christ alone. Church affliation, religion, regligious deeds or a good moral life does not earn us forgiveness with God. Forgiveness is only found in the work and worth of Jesus Christ who offered himself as a sacrifice for sin once and for all. When we are honest before God we have to acknowledge that it is not what our hands can do, but what Christ has done on our behalf. I rejoice in the words of John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Robert |

Hi christian7,This is not about Acts 4:12. I want to comment on your post concerning John 10:4. You don't know me, but I am one that has looked at capitalization in a study through the years. I am interested in knowing what you capitalize in this passage of Scripture. I noticed that you capitalized most of the pronouns with the exception of the first one. I would suppose that that would be a typo. Here is my interpretation for this passsage for what it is worth. I believe, along with you that this passage is talking of the Lord Himself and thus, we use the capitalization. I would capitalize all the pronouns except the word "shepherd" which would help to show that this is a figure of speech that Jesus spoke to them. John 10:6, "This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them, but they did not understand what those things were which He had been saying to them." My personal copy reads, John 10:1-5, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber. But He who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep. To Him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear His voice, and He calls His own sheep by name, and leads them out. When He puts forth all His own, (He) goes before them, and the sheep follow Him because they know His voice. And a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers." John 10:14, "I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know (Me)." John 9:41, "(Jesus) said to them, "If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, 'We see', your sin remains. John 10:16, "And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they shall hear (My) voice; and they shall become one flock with one shepherd." John 10:25, "Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these bear witness of (Me). But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep." John 10:39, "Therefore they were seeking again to seize (Him), and He eluded their grasp." The parentheses are for comparisons. The only contribution that I can make for Acts 4:12 being studied here is a comparison with that verse with another "I am". Acts 4:11, "He [This (One)] is the stone which was rejected by you, the builders, but which became the very corner stone. And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved." John 10:9, "(I) am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. The thief came only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep." Who do we listen to; the thief and the robber or the One who loves us and owns us? John 10:15b, "...and I lay down My/life for the sheep. John 18:39, "But you have a custom, that I should release *someone for you at the Passover; do you wish then that I release for you the King of the Kews? Therefore they cried out again, saying, "Not this Man/, but Barabbas." Now Barabbas was a robber. From the heart, Ray |
