1 | Some Observations about Church | Acts 2:41 | DocTrinsograce | 151006
Just a couple of observations from this verse: 1. The Kingdom of God is advanced by the Word of God. 2. The church helps to affirm that we are believers. "If you can MISS church and not miss church, then something is absent from your heart and faith." --Donald Whitney "Do you want to know that your new life is real? Commit yourself to local groups of saved sinners (i.e., the local church). Try to love them. Don't just do it for three weeks. Don't just do it for six months. Do it for years. And I think you'll find out, and others will, too, whether or not you love God. The truth will show itself. Joining a church won't save you. It is only the death of Christ that saves you. He alone is our righteousness. But if He really is our righteousness, if we really love He who we have not seen, it will show itself by us loving those that we do see." --Mark Dever "The local church is the place where our new life in Christ is lived out and proven. We cannot do all that we are called to do by the Bible in isolation. Getting home safely is a community project." --Joseph Bradon In Him, Doc |

2 | Some Observations about Church | Acts 2:41 | Hank | 151022
Good observations about the church, Doc. A key word to describe God's people throughout history is 'community.' Even the Pater Noster begins "Our Father..." The "Lone Ranger" modus operandi is foreign to Scripture. --Hank
