1 | What's in a Name? | Acts 2:38 | Ezek2vs7 | 145666
The name in which one is baptized in is only to note "in association with". Romans 5:1 tells us we were justifed when we BELIEVED. Justified means Just-if-i'd never sinned. You can't be declared any more sin free than THAT. Water baptism can do no more than symbolize your new life in Christ. Romans 8:7 tells us the carnal man (unsaved) can not submit to God's will. It's IMPOSSILBE for the carnal man to do so. So let's stop this believing that your church can get the unregenerated people to submit to water baptism. Jesus Christ is still saving people OUT OF the Jesus Only Movement. http://www.gospeloutreach.net/opgospel.html |

2 | What's in a Name? | Acts 2:38 | jcsav | 145698
Why is it, that you would not want to be "in association with" Jesus Christ by baptizm? Also, if what you say is correct. Then why do Peter (Acts 2:38)say that, repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ was for the, "REMISSION OF SIN." ' |

3 | What's in a Name? | Acts 2:38 | Ezek2vs7 | 145735
That's what baptism does. It puts us in association with the Person or Persons Who's Name is used. It denotes ownership. (See Vine's Expository of New Testament Words) That's why it doesn't matter if it's in Jesus name or the Father, Son and Holy Ghost (all Three are present in Acts 2). Why is it everyone thinks that Acts 2:38 is a step-by-step formula? The simple truth that I see from the Bible is that the majority text presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ does not even mention water baptism. Therefore I have no reason to accept Acts 2:38, and the 5 or 6 other pet-peev scripture, to be a set formula for salvation. The word "for" in Acts 2:38 needs to be considered. Do you go to the doctor FOR a broken arm? Is it TO GET a broken arm or because you already have one? In the case of Acts 2:38 we are to be baptized in Jesus Name FOR (because of) the remission of our sins. Back to "association". Being baptized in the Name of Jesus puts us in association with the One who has dealt with the sin issue in our behalf. Thanks for your time! |
