Hi, Just... Since the Scripture does not state what Christ wrote on the ground, we can only speculate. The problem with speculation is that it will always be just that -- at least, this side of glory. :-) We do know that His marking in the ground were not pictures, but legible characters, because of the word "grafo" used in verses 6 and 8. Here are the most reasonable speculations with which I am familiar: 1. Some of the sins committed by the accusers. 2. The names of the accusers, fulfilling Jeremiah 17:13. 3. The words of judgment written on the wall in Daniel 5:5. I'm rather partial to #1, but I can't be dogmatic without explicit Scriptural support. In Him, Doc |
