Dear Brazos, It was not a rebuke. Using the term "woman" was a common form of respect at that time. Jesus uses it again in John 19:26. The rest of the expression was not a rebuke, but was probably said with a great deal of tenderness. Some believe this might have meant, "What business is this to us?" Doc, Just a word of thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I have read several commentaries on that passage and the observations and positions varied quit a bit. I find it difficult to understand that Jesus says His time had not yet come and then He preforms the water to wine miracle. |
