1 | Praying in the name of the Trinity | John 16:26 | sillyicegoose | 154510
Hi, i recently had some experiences with knowing more about Catholic and i noticed that when they pray, they pray in the name of the Trinity. Meaning "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,Amen". But for Christians, we only pray in Jesus name. i would like to find out if it's biblically correct to pray in the name of the Trinity, even though Jesus instructed us to pray in Christ's name?.. Is it wrong? Is it necessary? In Romans 8:26, the Holy Spirit intercedes for us, so does it mean that we(Christians) pray to Holy Spirit too? What about praying in the name of the Father? Is there any biblical instructions about praying in the name of the Trinity??

Hi, Sillyicegoose... Christ is our the sole intercessor, consequently we end our prayers with "In Jesus Name." However, we are instructed to address the Father in prayer (Luke 11:2). Since Roman Catholics do not believe in the Five Solas, I would say that their behavior in this respect is a reflection of that position. You might find it useful to do a word study of prayer. Find every occurrence of the word in the NT, and write down everything you discover. Digging the answers out like that can be very helpful. In Him, Doc |
